Gimme Shelter
The price one pays as an out-of-state student at a state school can be downright ghoulish!

When looking for a way to save on college costs, Lynnette Khalfani-Cox (better known as “The Money Coach”) came up with a great plan.

She and her husband purchased apartments for their college-age children. The added bonus was that the kids could then establish residency and ultimately pay in-state tuition.

Sounds complicated? In this article, Lynnette flawlessly explains the entire process...and makes it sound like anyone can do it!
Short and Sweet
In addition to the main personal statement for the Common Application and/or Coalition Application, many schools include their own school-specific essays, also known as supplemental essays.

These writing supplements are usually shorter than the main college essay, but they’re no less important, so it’s prudent for students to not give them short shrift.

How Do You Write a Supplemental Essay goes into more detail about this particular essay...which can sometimes be multiple essays.
If I Had a Hammer...and a Piggy Bank
Recently, there have been lots of questions about how you figure out how much your family can afford to pay for college in our Paying For College 101 Facebook group.

We’d love to figure out how to help you with that quandary, so we’ve put together a survey in which to collect information. (And in case you didn’t realize it, a hammer and a piggy bank usually won’t do the trick.)

Please fill out this survey, and we’ll report back with our findings. We'll pick a winner from the survey takers to receive a $50 Amazon gift card.
