Welcome to Day 3 of Building The Perfect College List!

The first two days of the challenge helped you identify colleges that should be a good potential match for your student and family.

You learned how to conduct initial online and on-campus visits as well as the importance of identifying potential majors for your student. Now in Day 3, we will discuss how to take your foundation to the next level.

Families are always surprised by the results they experience while going through the college admissions and application process.

Admission and financial surprises are common, as this process is filled with uncertainty and unpredictability. In trying to minimize this for you and your family, we now dig a little deeper.

The video for Day 3 will help you:
  • Evaluate your critical criteria and quantify it
  • Ask questions of the student, your family, and the college to confirm your assumptions
  • Organize your findings and what you learned on your visits
  • Ensure you are on the right track and/or identify gaps to fill

Once you’ve finished the video, we’ve provided a list of Critical Questions Every Family Should Ask to ensure you are evaluating the colleges you are considering properly. Click here to download this list now!

YOUR TASK FOR TODAY is to assemble your rating criteria for each school, and then head over to the College Board website to begin searching for schools that fit the criteria you’ve learned from Days 1-3 of the challenge.

Start writing down any schools you come across that could be a good fit for your student, and compare schools against one another based on the criteria from the worksheet.

Don’t forget - Marisa, Russ, and Debbie will be LIVE tonight 8:30 PM (EST) tonight to answer any questions you have about today’s part of the challenge.

Click here to watch the Facebook Live tonight!! (You can also view the recordings of Day 1 and Day 2 Facebook Lives here as well.)

Good luck getting started! We’re here to support you.

-Debbie, Marisa, and Russ
