Microsoft TechSpark Celebrates 3 Years!

Three years ago, Microsoft did something they had never done before. Instead of moving someone from Redmond, Washington to Northeast Wisconsin, they hired someone from the region that knew community leaders and understood the culture landscape. Together this community has been leading change not only in our region, but throughout Wisconsin and the United States.

New North, Inc. would like to congratulate  Microsoft TechSpark. We are grateful for Microsoft's investments and efforts toward developing the New North region.  Read more about the efforts of Microsoft TechSpark and it's partnership with New North, gener8tor and American Family on the skilling initiative, gener8tor Upskilling, in the article below, "How to Gain New Skills for the Digital Economy in Northeast Wisconsin".

How to Gain New Skills for the Digital Economy in Northeast Wisconsin
LinkedIn Pulse
This week we’re celebrating the third year of Microsoft’s TechSpark program, and I am really excited about the digital skilling opportunities we’ve brought to our region.

In a time when stay at home orders are in place and people are being displaced from jobs, virtual learning and virtual hiring are mandatory. Businesses and individuals are quickly adopting new ways to learn, interview, hire, and work.

Green Bay airport gift shop owners celebrate 50 years in business
WTAQ
GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The gift shop at Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport has been around for 50 years, and it’s anything but your usual corner store full of snacks and tropical postcards.

Other things haven’t changed too much.

“I don’t consider it a job when it’s fun,” he added.

But that shop is anything but your typical, cookie-cutter airport gift shop. It’s almost more reminiscent of the fan section of an

FCCVB creates grants to venues, organizations hit hard by pandemic
Insight On Business
The Fox Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau has created the FCCVB Tourism Asset Emergency Grant program, dedicating $200,000 to assist Fox Cities tourism-generating organizations and venues impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“Tourism recovery will happen, and it is essential that we maintain our tourism assets that contribute to the quality of life and visitor experience in the Fox Cities during this time,” says Executive Director Pam Seidl. “If these assets fail, the tourism recovery will take longer or may not happen at all.”

While many sectors of the tourism economy have been negatively impacted by the ongoing global pandemic, industry data shows large events and group travel will take the longest to recover. This negatively affects the organizations and venues that rely on income from large group events. The Fox Cities tourism economy — which generated more than....
