Green Bay unveils Clean Energy Plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Here's what to know.

GREEN BAY - Almost five years after Mayor Eric Genrich created the Sustainability Commission, officials on Wednesday announced the city's Clean Energy Plan for the rest of the decade, and up to 2050.

The commission introduced a range of goals. The most important for the community remains reaching 100% clean energy and carbon neutrality by 2050 — not emitting more carbon into the air than is offset by non-carbon-fueled sources like solar energy.

Allouez buys Webster Avenue Associated Bank branch, plans strip mall demolition

ALLOUEZ - Allouez this fall continued its varied efforts to develop a central business district along South Webster Avenue.

The Village Board on Nov. 7 approved the purchase of a soon-to-close Associated Bank branch at 2001 S. South Webster Ave. for $800,000. It also recently awarded a contract to demolish the vacant strip mall at 1905 S. Webster Ave. that the village bought in 2020.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, at least when you check the schedule for downtown Green Bay.

City leaders gathering on Broadway this morning to unveil their winter event season which includes dozens of events for you and your family. Just a few include the lighting of the Peace Tree and CityDeck on Wednesday night the start of the Christkindlmarket on Friday and Saturday’s Green Bay Holiday Parade.

All aboard? Green Bay train decision expected this month

Northeast Wisconsin could learn this month whether passenger train service to Green Bay will take the next step in its development.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) applied under a federal program for the train that currently ends in Milwaukee to be extended north, stopping in Fond du Lac, Oshkosh, and Appleton before reaching its destination of Green Bay.

Breakthrough gifts free pair of shoes to every student at Green Bay elementary school

GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- Thanks to a generous donation from an Ashwaubenon business, every student at a Green Bay elementary school is receiving a free pair of athletic shoes.

Smiles were abundant on the faces of students and staff Thursday as all 340 kids at Howe Elementary Community School were fitted for their new footwear. U.S. Venture company Breakthrough teamed up with Shoes That Fit, a nationwide non-profit organization, to make the event possible.

Oneida Nation ushers in holiday season with annual 'Light the Bridgeway' event

ONEIDA (WLUK) -- With the flip of a switch, the Oneida Nation kickstarted the holiday season Thursday at its 6th annual "Light the Bridgeway" event.

Dozens of community members gathered for the countdown beginning at 5:59 p.m., cheering as the Duck Creek Bridge and surrounding trees were illuminated in colorful holiday lights at 6 o'clock sharp.
