New North’s Koldos named to Governor’s Task Force on Broadband Access
NEW NORTH, INC.

NEW NORTH – Barbara Koldos, vice president-business development for New North Inc., has been named to the Governor’s Task Force on Broadband Access. The group meets monthly with the established goal of improving broadband access in Wisconsin through well-informed recommendations designed to expand access, adoption and affordability of high-speed internet.

New North Co-Chair Michelle Schuler also is a member of the Governor’s Task Force on Broadband Access,representing TechSpark Wisconsin, Microsoft.

Appvion acquires Nekoosa Coated Products

Appvion has bought a central Wisconsin company. Parent company Wynnchurch Capital, L.P. announced Wednesday that it took over Nekoosa Coated Products, based in the Wood County community of Nekoosa.

Nekoosa Coated Products makes specialty engineered materials for graphics and commercial printing companies.

Maritime museum sees impact of investment in facilities

DOOR COUNTY -- If you visited one of the three”ports of call” for the Door County Maritime Museum this summer, chances are you saw them like you have never seen before. This summer was one of changes for the museum’s Sturgeon Bay, Gills Rock, and Cana Island campuses because of the work being done. The Jim Kress Maritime Tower brought in more visitors to the Sturgeon Bay museum and is down to just a few more floors that need to be finished before the entire 10-floor structure is complete. 

After limiting visitors for much of the season, the museum finished its restoration work of the Cana Island lighthouse tower and keeper’s quarters in August. That allowed visitors full rein of the island for the first time in a few years while they, along with the county, completed other tasks....

CLEVELAND – Lakeshore Technical College and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh have signed an agreement allowing students who complete Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degrees at LTC to transfer to UW-Oshkosh with guaranteed junior standing.

The associate degree programs, which started this fall semester, cover the general education requirements for students who plan to obtain a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree from a four-year college.
