ThedaCare, Froedert plan "neighborhood hospitals" in Oshkosh, Fond du Lac

OSHKOSH -- Easier access to care is coming to two cities along Lake Winnebago. ThedaCare announced Thursday it’s teaming up with Froedert Health to bring new health campuses to Oshkosh and Fond du Lac.

ThedaCare and Froedert Health announced they’ll invest a total of about $110 million in Oshkosh and Fond du Lac with the creation of two new health campuses which will be home to neighborhood hospitals.

These facilities will be available for short, overnight stays. They’ll be places where patients can receive emergency care 24/7, 365 days a year, while also providing preventive services, access to physicians and primary care, as well as an ambulatory surgery center...

Wisconsin law firm Davis|Kuelthau to merge with Chicago's SmithAmundsen

Wisconsin law firm Davis|Kuelthau s.c. will merge with Chicago's SmithAmundsen LLC on Nov. 1 and integration efforts are already underway, according to a Thursday announcement.

The combined firm will be called Amundsen Davis LLC. It will operate 12 offices throughout Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, Indiana and Ohio — including in Milwaukee, Brookfield, Green Bay, Appleton and Madison, where Davis|Kuelthau already has offices....

MADISON – Employers are now able to apply for the latest round of Wisconsin Fast Forward grants from the Department of Workforce Development (DWD). Up to $3 million in funding is available to employers who demonstrate a critical need for skilled workers and are seeking training grants to develop and implement a business-led skills training program.

The Fast Forward Program encourages the development of innovative solutions at the local and regional level to bring together employers, educators, workforce development entities, and economic development organizations to meet area workforce needs and increase the economic capacity of area residents.

Girls STEM Day Conference coming to Sheboygan South Nov. 5

SHEBOYGAN – Sheboygan South High School will be hosting the fifth annual Girls STEM Day Conference on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 8 a.m.-12 p.m.

The educational event, which is sponsored by the Sheboygan branch of the American Association of University Women, introduces sixth to ninth grade girls to careers in science, technology, engineering and math.

Girls will have the opportunity to choose three of 11 different STEM sessions. Categories include architectural design, graphic design, robotics, veterinary science, forensic science, applied chemistry, food science, the science of color and appearance, hydroponic gardens, binary number systems, and the science of scents and fragrances....

UWGB receives $376,000 grant to address nursing shortage

GREEN BAY -- The University of Wisconsin - Green Bay is finding ways to combat the nursing shortage in Wisconsin.

The university received a Workforce Innovation Grant from the governor's office.

Its plan is to train more co-clinical instructors from nearby hospitals to be able to have more students in the program.

"We have a limited number of nurse educators, so this opportunity is going to help fund additional positions as well as partnerships to have clinicals so we can increase the capacity of nurses coming through," says Amy Pechacek, secretary-designee of Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.

Several Northeast Wisconsin meat processors receive major grant

NORTHEAST WISCONSIN -- Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers alongside the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) announced that 91 meat processors have been selected to receive a total of $10 million through a Meat and Poultry Supply Chain Resiliency Grant.

Governor Evers announced the creation of the grant in May 2022 with the goal of continuing to support the growth of Wisconsin’s meat processing industry and improve the long-term viability of the state’s livestock industry....

Lawrence University brings back Spanish Film Festival

APPLETON – After a two-year hiatus, the Latin American and Spanish Film Festival returned to Lawrence University during Hispanic Heritage Month.

Organized by Rosa Tapia and Cecilia Herrera from Lawrence University, the event began on Thursday and will go on until Sunday.

The event held at Warch Campus Center Cinema on Lawrence University grounds is free to attend for all students. The films are all in the Spanish language with English subtitles...

FOX CITIES -- Pulse Young Professionals Network, a program of the Fox Cities Chamber, has announced the 15 individuals from across the Fox Cities region who will be honored Dec. 1 as the 2022 class of Fox Cities Future 15 Young Professionals.

These outstanding young professionals were chosen based on their professional dedication, strong sense of vision for the future of the Fox Cities, and personal commitment to philanthropy in the community they call home.

The Future 15 awards have been presented annually since 2011 to individuals aged 40 and under who live and work in the Fox Cities – defined as Outagamie County, Calumet County, and Northern Winnebago County.
