NEW NORTH INC.

NEW NORTH – New North Inc., the regional economic development corporation across the 18 counties of Northeast Wisconsin, has contracted with the broadband consulting team of Design Nine, MSA and GEO Partners to provide a broadband study for each of the region’s 18 counties. A key part of the process is a public survey of households and businesses about current broadband service conditions.

The household survey was mailed to all Northeast Wisconsin residences in early October. It also is available for completion online...

DE PERE --  The Norman Miller Center for Peace, Justice & Public Understanding at St. Norbert College in partnership with Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Green Bay will offer a panel discussion and community forum focusing on the refugee resettlement happening in Brown County at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 18.

A Green Bay math teacher was tired of hearing that, so she decided she was going to start showing her students how what they were learning in the classroom was applicable to real jobs.

Marie Viste was the Green Bay Area Public School District's secondary mathematics curriculum coordinator a decade ago when she, in conjunction with the Northeast Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance, came up with the idea to show students how the math they were learning is used by manufacturers every day.....

Dept. of Administration: Applications open for $10 million Tourism Capital Grant Program

MADISON -- Today, the Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA) announced it is accepting applications for the Tourism Capital Grant Program. The grants will provide up to $10 million for local and Tribal governments and tourism-related nonprofits to invest in shovel-ready tourism-related capital projects.

As part of his effort to help Wisconsin’s tourism industry recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, Gov. Evers announced in August that he created the $10 million Tourism Capital Grant program for investment projects that promote, maintain, and bolster the state’s critical tourism industry. This latest round of funding is part of the governor’s $150 million total investment into the state’s tourism and entertainment industries through federal American Rescue Plan Act funds...
