NEENAH - The roots of Alejandro Lagunes' craft Mexican-style lagers date back to the European occupation of Mexico more than 150 years ago.

At the time, Austrian and German breweries were popping up in Mexico during the Austrian rule of that nation under the order of Napoleon III. Over time, the Vienna style lagers they produced became a predominant style in Mexico....

Two-time entrepreneur 'unlocking potential' and growing janitorial business
GREEN BAY PRESS GAZETTE

GREEN BAY -- For returning Green Bay SCORE client Germaine Nunn of Green Bay, owning a business isn’t anything new. His first venture, a partnership, became difficult to continue when his partner moved away.

“I was a partner in a beauty supplies shop in Green Bay, and our niche was selling beauty products for the Black culture,” Nunn said. “We saw the need for that and I learned all about what it means to be an entrepreneur and the sweat equity that’s involved.”..

Not just needle and thread: Quilt 'destination' builds $5M venue
INSIGHT PUBLICATIONS

LARSEN -- Lisa Bongean’s vision for her Primitive Gatherings quilt shop was big — bigger, perhaps, than her previous location was ready for.

After being located in Menasha for 22 years, she took her vision to the rural enclave of Larsen, near Winchester in Winnebago County. She recently opened a new $5 million facility on 10 acres near Highway 45 and Highway II.

“I wanted to be part of a little community,” says Bongean, a well-respected professional quilter, instructor and blogger. “I was looking for a place where I could make a difference. It was amazing the treatment I got (from the Town of Larsen). They were very supportive of my grand plan.”...

Embracing the experience: Red Door Mercantile's brick-and-mortar store sets it apart
INSIGHT PUBLICATIONS

NEENAH -- Tina Palmer grew up celebrating the past — her grandfather sold antiques and her father was a history buff. She also takes pride in her hometown of Neenah.
The entrepreneur melded those interests at Red Door Mercantile, the “modern-day general store” she opened in 2016 in downtown Neenah.

“I love our downtown, and I saw a really huge need for a gift shop and specialty shop,” says Palmer, who previously owned Vintique, a vintage clothing shop, in the city for nine years.

“As a small shop owner, you put your heart and soul into what you do,” says Palmer, who ran both stores concurrently until she closed Vintique in 2018...

Evers kicks off Wisconsin Tech Month with inclusivity focus
WIS BUSINESS

Gov. Tony Evers kicked off Wisconsin Tech Month with a focus on inclusivity, highlighting the “technological divide” in the state.

“We see it with broadband. Our communities don’t have access to a reliable internet connection,” he said yesterday at a news conference in Madison. “We see it in gaps to the education systems. There are kids not receiving equal opportunities to access STEM programming. And we see it in access to opportunities for entrepreneurs, whether that’s venture capital, education and training and networking opportunities.”...
