October is Manufacturing Month
WISCONSIN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORP (WEDC)

Wisconsin has the second-highest manufacturing employment concentration in the U.S., with more than 483,000 manufacturing jobs, accounting for nearly 20% of the state’s GDP. WEDC recognizes the importance of manufacturing to Wisconsin’s economy, and we are committed to supporting our manufacturers in key areas of workforce, technology and productivity.
October is Manufacturing Month, and we would like to invite you to join us by taking part in one of the following initiatives:

Boost productivity
In Wisconsin’s tight labor market, automation and other productivity improvements present an opportunity to accomplish more with your existing workforce. In collaboration with partners, we have made the Productivity Plus assessment tool available for free so Wisconsin manufacturers can receive instant feedback on identified areas for improvement after completing a short survey, and be connected to manufacturing solution partners for support in implementing improvements.

Come see us at the Wisconsin Manufacturing & Technology Show (Oct. 5-7 in West Allis) or Manufacturing First (Oct. 27 in Green Bay) for a demo, or visit the Productivity Plus website and start your free analysis today to receive recommendations to improve productivity by as much as 30%....

$7.5M Green Bay Country Club upgrade is hole-in-one for Brown County
WFRV

BELLEVUE – Leaders hope a multi-million dollar upgrade to facilities and the course at Green Bay Country Club could help Brown County score a hole-in-one.

In all, the club is spending $7.5 million. “This has the ability to really impact local businesses as well,” explains Membership Director Cathy Zehms. “Our rapidly growing age group is that 35 to 45 age range, so we attract a lot of families.”

The upgrades come at a time when many other area golf courses have been sold off, downsized, or closed for good – like Shorewood on the UW-GB campus....

UWGB Chancellor Michael Alexander's Installation message: Northeast Wisconsin needs a healthy educational ecosystem to thrive and rise
UW-GREEN BAY

GREEN BAY — Leaders from Wisconsin’s education, business, non-profit and government communities, including Interim UW System President Tommy Thompson, gathered today for the formal investiture of Michael Alexander as the seventh chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. The event, filled with academic tradition and a call to action to think differently about higher education, was held at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts on the Green Bay Campus.

“UW-Green Bay is essential to the future of Northeastern Wisconsin,” Alexander noted in his inaugural address (1:10:30). “The problem we are trying to solve is that we need a healthy educational ecosystem for this region to thrive. UW-Green Bay for most of its history has been the third smallest school in the UW System in the third largest economic region of the state. That fact is not tenable for the future of Northeastern Wisconsin and frankly, the state. The educational attainment rates for our region are below the national and state averages. This is a dangerous statistic for any region that hopes to thrive in the future. As the region’s comprehensive university, we are uniquely positioned to solve this problem and six straight years of enrollment growth show we are on our way....
