Bank Five Nine hires next president, CEO

Oconomowoc, Wis.-based Bank Five Nine hired Tim Schneider as its next president and CEO.

Schneider will join the organization in October as the $1.5 billion bank’s current president and CEO, Mark Mohr, prepares to retire early next year.

An experienced Wisconsin community banker, Schneider was most recently senior vice president at Green Bay, Wis.-based Nicolet National Bank. Before that, he was the CEO and co-founder of Investors Community Bank, Manitowoc. Investors was acquired by Nicolet last year...

'The talk of the town': How a $10 million Fox Cities Stadium renovation will benefit fans, players

GRAND CHUTE - When teams come into Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium to play the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, it’s commonplace for visiting players and coaches to praise the amenities on and off the field.

With a major renovation project announced Thursday by Third Base Ventures, which owns the Timber Rattlers, that experience is only going to get better for players and fans.

“I think we’re going to be probably the talk of the town when we get this all done,” said Rob Zerjav, president, CEO and managing partner of Third Base Ventures. “I think when you’re going to see some of these amenities when you’re driving by on the highway, people are going to want to come out to the ballpark.”

The renovation is being done by Appleton-based Boldt Construction and is underway, with the work expected to be completed by the start of the 2023 season in April. The project will be paid for entirely by Third Base Ventures at a cost of around $10 million...

Brown County gives $650,000 in ARPA funds for Green Bay visitor center

GREEN BAY - Experience Green Bay is receiving more funding for its $8 million visitor center project.

Brown County officials presented Experience Green Bay with a $650,000 grant Thursday for the Discover Green Bay Visitor Center.

The grant comes from American Rescue Plan Act funding. Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach says these ARPA dollars were specifically for tourism.

"The Discover Green Bay Visitor Center is a project that will benefit our entire region," said Streckenbach. "The county is excited to support this project with ARPA dollars identified for tourism. This project will positively impact, not only visitor experience, but will be a critical tool for recruitment and relocation of talented individuals and families to Brown County...

A one-woman police department: Meet the Coleman Police Chief

COLEMAN - In Marinette County, in the village of Coleman, one woman is running the entire police operation on her own.

“I have a hard time saying no when people need help,” said Coleman Police Department Chief Ida Soletske.

The woman works tirelessly to keep the small community safe. To many, it’s a blink of an eye as they’re driving on HWY 141, but it's home to Chief Soletske.

“You have to be a well-rounded person to be in this type of work,” said Soletske.

She’s been the Coleman Chief of Police since 1997. As a one-woman department, she runs all of the town’s police operations on her own...

Marinette County embraces fall with new Fall Color Tour ATV/UTV routes

MARINETTE COUNTY - Marinette County is creating new ways for people to explore the fall foliage this year.

The Marinette County Fall Color Tour now features two ATV/UTV routes in addition to its three self-guided driving tours.

The new routes "will immerse riders into some of Wisconsin's finest, most scenic ATV/UTV trails, including stops at waterfalls," explained Jennifer Short, development and tourism director for the county.

The automobile routes include waterfalls, parks, scenic hiking trails and canopied backroads. One route -- the Wine, Cheese and Wildlife Route -- even includes a stop at a Marinette winery...
