Tazza takes flight with Italian-style coffee shop
PRESS TIMES

De Pere’s downtown dam district – running along Main Street and North Broadway – boasts a beautiful vista along the Fox River lined with small local shops housed in historic buildings.

While nights echo with merriment from its many bars and restaurants, mornings belong to the coffee shops.

With a cafe on nearly every corner – some in business more than 20 years – it can be hard to stand out.
Nardi’s Affogato Bar learned this the hard way as its gelato-based coffee drinks failed to catch on as quickly as hoped.

Since its closure, a shop simply dubbed Tazza hopes to fill the void and keep delicious Italian-style coffee flowing...

Wisconsin's snack market booms with proteins and local foods
MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL

Snack season might dovetail with school and sports for some families, but for an increasing number of us, snacks and small meals are the new normal.

If you grew up in a world of no snacks between meals, or your family sits down for dinner together every night, you might be surprised. Appetites for snacks have grown, and consumers are choosing smaller, healthier meals and snacks.

Data from ACNielsen shows that 31% of consumers are having three to four snacks a day, and 14% consume five or more snacks a day.

Consumers are still eating potato chips, cookies and candy, but a segment of people are hungry for options that are plant based, gluten free, keto or protein filled, or a sustainable option on the go. Producers have responded.

Innovations in packaging and manufacturing have improved the convenience of those grab-and-go options, and a number begin right here in Wisconsin...

Wheels down: Suamico Bike Company rides into Vickery Village
THE BUSINESS NEWS

SUAMICO – For those who’ve ever participated in a group bicycle ride in the Green Bay area, chances are they’ve seen either Matt Fisher or Laura Grovogel in the pack.

The couple said it’s that love of biking that led them to take a “leap of faith” in starting the Suamico Bike Company, located at 1790 Riverside Dr. in Suamico.

Grovogel said she wants the shop to be known as one “everyone feels comfortable going to.”

“We don’t want to intimidate people or make them feel bad for having limited bike knowledge,” she said. “Our motto is, ‘Regardless of what stage of life you’re passing through, there is a bike for you...

Building a better turkey decoy turns into business, Flatline Your Bird, for former Green Bay resident
GREEN BAY PRESS GAZETTE

Darrell Bartel, a former Green Bay resident now residing in Waupaca, had an idea. It all started years ago when he shot his first turkey. Because decoys are a must for most hunters, he purchased a tail-mounting decoy kit that he thought was confusing and ineffective.

“It was a little bit of a process and difficult to assemble,” Bartel explained. “Later, when I was hunting with a buddy, I saw that he was using a mounted turkey fan as a decoy. This was a new technique to me, but it was a decoy tactic that old-time turkey hunters have been using for decades.”

Intrigued by this type of decoy, Bartel got busy in his shop. He began to perfect the process of creating a dual-purpose turkey decoy...
