Lawrence University ranked by U.S. News among top liberal arts colleges in nation
LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY   

Lawrence University is ranked as the No. 1 liberal arts college in Wisconsin and one of the best in the nation in U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Colleges rankings.

The 2022-23 rankings, released Monday, lists Lawrence 63rd among all liberal arts colleges in the country and celebrates Lawrence for its excellent undergraduate teaching and its efforts to provide students with an engaged first-year experience.

Lawrence, which draws about 37% of its incoming class from Wisconsin and Illinois, is the only liberal arts college in Wisconsin to land in the top 75 nationally.

Lawrence saw its rankings climb in four sub-categories—Best Undergraduate Teaching, Best First-Year Experience, Best Value, and Most International Students. And it landed on the list of Top Performers on Social Mobility...

FOX CITIES -- The Fox Cities Chamber has announced a new program that will help employers improve employee satisfaction and retention.

ENGAGE Fox Cities provides a community immersion experience for local employees. “It’s a great way to connect your employees with their community and help improve retention and satisfaction. Art Squad is rescheduled for Thursday, September 22 from 4-5 p.m.

In our last communication, we mentioned that the informational Art Squad meeting originally scheduled for September 8th would be moved to another date. We have now chosen a new date, and hope to see you on Thursday, September 22nd from 4:00 - 5:00 PM for the rescheduled meeting. The meeting will take place in the community room at the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation as originally planned.

As a refresher, this meeting will provide updates on both Spark GGB! and AEP6 and provide some context as to how these two initiatives will benefit artists and arts organization to create a healthier arts and culture sector and enhance our ability to make great work for our community, including the development of meaningful resources available to artists and arts organizations.

$40 million to rebuild Coast Guard Station Sheboygan included in authorization bill

Coast Guard Station Sheboygan appears poised to get a rebuild, assuming critical legislation is passed in Washington.

Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin’s office said that Coast Guard Stations in Sturgeon Bay, Kenosha and Sheboygan are each proposed to receive $40 million from the Bipartisan Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2022 to rebuild after high Lake Michigan waters in 2019 compromised facilities. During that year water often breached the banks of the Sheboygan River, flooding the local coast guard station and other buildings along the river. In Green Bay that year, the Coast Guard had to evacuate their station completely, relocate their vessels, and now bases operations out of hotels....

KOHLER -- Just over a week after the death of Kohler Company's executive chairman, the company is naming a new leader.

The Kohler Co. Board of Directors elected current Kohler president and chief executive officer David Kohler to be Herbert Kohler Jr.'s successor.

Pelkin's Smokey Meat Market, with over 80 varieties of brats, expands beyond Crivitz, Suamico to Resch Plaza for Packers tailgaters

Brats stuffed with sauerkraut. Brat-sized hot dogs loaded with mac and cheese. Meat snack sticks packed with pizza flavors. Pelkin's Smokey Meat Market is a veritable smorgasbord for carnivores not bound to tradition when it comes to sausages and other meats.

Though Pelkin's makes more than 80 varieties of bratwursts, manager Kevin Goldberg said the traditional German-style brat is its best seller.

The traditional brat will get a wider audience after PMI Entertainment Group announced in August that Pelkin’s Smokey Meat Market is the official supplier of hot dogs, brats and beef snacks. PMI manages the Resch Center, Resch Expo and Resch Plaza....

When it comes to getting the best educational outcomes from a two-year community college, it pays to stay close to home.

The personal finance website WalletHub.com looked at more than 650 two-year community colleges across cost and quality indicators including tuition and fees, student-faculty ratios, and graduation rates, and ranked Lakeshore Technical College fourth-best in the nation for educational outcomes, LTC was also ranked among the nation’s top 4% of two-year colleges at number-23. Wallet Hub also ranked LTC the third-best overall in Wisconsin, topped by Moraine Park and Fox Valley in the 1st and 2nd places...

On Broadway Inc. is finalist for $90,000 grant for free outdoor concert series

GREEN BAY -- You can vote now for On Broadway Inc. for a chance to get a $90,000 matching grant to present a series of free outdoor concerts.

On Broadway is a non-profit that hosts events for community enrichment projects on Green Bay’s near-west side. It’s one of 36 finalists for the grant.

The winning community organization receives $30,000 a year for three years. On Broadway would use the money for a 10-week series of concerts at Leicht Park along the riverfront starting next year, promising a diverse lineup of talented recording artists..
