WISCONSIN MANUFACTURERS & COMMERCE (WMC)

MADISON – Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) and Johnson Financial Group announced on Monday that the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin contest will be back for a sixth straight year. The annual competition aims to highlight the state’s manufacturing industry – which employs one in six Wisconsinites – and ultimately determine the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin.

“Manufacturers are the backbone of Wisconsin’s economy, and we are thrilled to once again showcase the state’s top industry throughout this contest,” said WMC President & CEO Kurt Bauer. “As manufacturers continue to face a dire workforce shortage, we hope this contest will bring attention to the challenging, rewarding and family-supporting careers available in the industry.”...

Manufacturing First: Coming to Green Bay Oct. 27

The Manufacturing First Expo & Conference, the state’s largest manufacturing conference, is slated for Oct. 27 at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay. The annual event provides Wisconsin manufacturers with hands-on opportunities to grow their business and is designed for them to partake in networking, showcase industry advances, highlight successes and announce their latest developments.

This year’s event, taking place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., will feature a keynote presentation from Dr. Rick Rigsby, president and CEO of Rigsby Communications and the author of “Lessons of a Third Grade Dropout,” a best-selling book. He is also known for a speech he gave on hope in 2017, which became an internet sensation viewed by more than 300 million people worldwide. Sheboygan manufacturer inks deal with Tesla

SHEBOYGAN -- Nemak was recently awarded a contract with automaker Tesla and will renovate its Sheboygan warehouse facility to meet its new production needs.

Headquartered in Mexico, Nemak is an automotive parts manufacturing company. Tesla’s electric vehicle project requires a $33 million investment into the site for equipment and site upgrades. The contract is set to last through 2027, but the upgrades set Nemak up for further contracts or an extension...

Kiel Area School District gets $25,000 grant for 'fab lab'
TRI-COUNTY KIEL RECORD

KIEL -- Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) officials
recently announced that the Kiel Area School District is the recipient
of a state grant to fund new fabrication laboratory (fab lab) facilities
which will equip Wisconsin students with essential skills for the 21st century’s global economy.

The Kiel Area School District was awarded $25,000 to expand a fab lab.
“WEDC has invested over $3.4 million for the past six years to provide 95 school districts across the state with the equipment necessary to help students learn high-demand skills, including technology, manufacturing and engineering,” said Missy Hughes, secretary and CEO of WEDC....
