Multicultural Coalition, Inc. hosts upcoming vaccination event at Kiwanis Park in Appleton
MULTICULTURAL COALITION, INC.

APPLETON - Multicultural Coalition, Inc. (MCI), has a summer in the park vaccination event happening in Appleton. This event will feature a Hmong volleyball tournament held by CrossCourt Conversations (NEW Hmong Professionals), ice cream, free food, all the amenities the park has to offer as well as the traditional items and services offered at all MCI events, including:

•  Interpreters in Spanish and/or Hmong who will be on-site to assist
•  Books, diapers and household supplies are available
•  Eco-friendly teddy bears, donated by SonoHealth and Bears for Humanity, will be handed out to children receiving a vaccine

All vaccination events are open to walk-ins and do not require pre-registration, identification or health insurance to receive a vaccine. Vaccines are available for those ages six months and up.

Great Lakes freighter departs Sturgeon Bay on maiden voyage

STURGEON BAY - The first Great Lakes freighter in nearly 40 years has departed Sturgeon Bay on its maiden voyage.

The 639-foot M/V Mark W. Barker left Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding Wednesday on its 110-mile journey to Port Inland, Michigan. It's the company's first new build since 1981.

The M/V Mark W. Barker, a self-unloading bulk carrier, is believed to be the first ship for U.S. Great Lakes service built on the Great Lakes since 1983. The ship will transport raw materials such as salt, iron ore, and stone to support manufacturing throughout the Great Lakes region....

OSHKOSH - Among the blue skies at EAA AirVenture is a sea of pink and green, as more than 1,000 women of all ages gathered Wednesday at Boeing Plaza to commemorate the 15th anniversary of WomenVenture.

"I didn't even know that I wanted to be in aviation at all. I got in entirely by accident," said Stacey Jackson, a pilot from Canada.

Jackon's love for flying sparked at the age of 14 when she joined a youth organization called The Royal Canadian Air Cadets...

Construction begins for $59 million apartment community in Green Bay

GREEN BAY - Construction is underway for a new apartment community called The Fort at the Railyard.

The project, originally pitched to the city back in 2019, is expected to cost $59 million.

The Fort aims to provide affordable living spaces, setting aside 187 units for residents earning up to 60% of the area median income. The rest of the 233 units will be available at market price...

Alliant Energy debuts solar fields in Sheboygan and Kohler

SHEBOYGAN COUNTY - Alliant Energy held ribbon-cutting ceremonies for its completed solar fields in both Sheboygan and Kohler on Wednesday, July 27. The projects are part of the Madison-based energy company’s Customer-Hosted Renewables program.

The City of Sheboygan Solar Field is a partnership between Alliant, developer SunPeak and the city of Sheboygan. The 1-megawatt site, which is located in the Sheboygan Business Center on the city’s southwest side, consists of 3,000 solar panels and will provide energy to approximately 180 homes. In addition to getting a source of clean energy, the city will receive 25 years of lease payments...
