MADISON — Twenty nine companies and nonprofit organizations have been selected as finalists for the 2021 Wisconsin Innovation Awards. In total, over 331 business, products, and services from around the state were nominated. The finalists were determined by a panel of 27 statewide industry experts, with winners to be announced at the annual awards ceremony on October 5, 2021. Nominations spanned across the state of Wisconsin, representing startups, companies, and established businesses of all sizes and industries....
Georgia Pacific and gener8tor announce class as part of the 1915 Studios Accelerator INSIGHT PUBLICATIONS
Georgia-Pacific and nationally ranked startup accelerator gener8tor have named the five companies selected for its inaugural 1915 Studios program, including one from Northeast Wisconsin — Roving Blue.
Roving Blue, Altitude Medical, Luys Systems, RingCo and Saneex set themselves apart through a competitive application and interview process to take part in the summer cohort. The startups were recruited from all over the country. Roving Blue is headquartered in the Oconto County village of Lena. The other companies are based in Indianapolis, Miami, Silicon Valley and Cleveland, Ohio. Each company focuses on hygiene, Internet of Things and sensing technology....

MARINETTE -- When it came to selecting a name for her day care center, Nakiva Bell-Smalls of Marinette had an easy time of it. With a last name of Smalls, the selection of Smalls World Daycare was a natural.
It was the three-year journey to get licensed that was a challenge.
“The process was very detailed,” Bell-Smalls said. “There was a 13-page checklist to go through from making sure the environment is up to code to making sure that you have all of the proper equipment and are meeting all of the safety requirements.”... OCONTO – The opening of The Shop on Main fulfilled two longtime goals of Lynne Hearley. “I always wanted to sell my own art, and I always wanted to have my own coffee shop,” she said.
