Gov. Evers, DFI Announce Collaboration with Financial Fitness Group to Provide New Financial Wellness Program for Wisconsin Residents and Employees

MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today, together with the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions (DFI), announced that the Financial Fitness Group (FFG), developers of industry-leading interactive financial wellness solutions for top financial service firms, government agencies, and large corporations, is collaborating on a program with DFI and the Governor’s Council on Financial Literacy and Capability to help improve the financial well-being of people who live and work in Wisconsin. 

The program is an expansion of a prior collaboration between DFI and the Wisconsin Department of Employee Trust Funds, which helped educate over 12,000 state employees over the last year...

ASHWAUBENON - Discover Green Bay started construction this morning on a regional visitors center building first proposed almost four years ago.

The $6.5 million center will give the region's tourism marketing agency a long-desired focal point for visitors off Lombardi Avenue between Cabela's and the TitletownFlats and U.S. Venture Center buildings. The 12,500-square-foot building will include promotional spaces, informational displays, an outdoor plaza for events, training spaces, and staff office space.

Discover Green Bay has been without a permanent home since part of the Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena roof collapsed during the April 2018 blizzard...

NASCAR is back in Wisconsin this weekend with the Xfinity Series racing the Henry 180 on Saturday and the Cup Series racing the Kwik Trip 250 on Sunday at Road America.

The 4.048-mile road course just outside Elkhart Lake has hosted the second-tier Xfinity Series since 2010. The premier division returned last season for the first time in 56 years.

Restaurant chain will open on former Neenah Shopko site; other tenants in the works

NEENAH - Noodles & Company will open a restaurant on a new lot in front of the former Neenah Shopko at 699 S. Green Bay Road.

It's the first tenant announced for the redevelopment of the Shopko property, to which the city committed $950,000 in redevelopment assistance.

"It's certainly a restaurant that is complementary to what we currently have out there," said Brad Schmidt, Neenah's deputy director of community development and assessment. "It's not necessarily similar to any of the surrounding restaurants, so I think it's a good thing for the area."...

Suscha's Bar in Sheboygan survives Prohibition, evolving customers and a pandemic to reach 100 years in business

SHEBOYGAN - While the building has undergone some remodeling over the past 100 years, the neon "Suscha’s" sign can still be seen glowing by passersby and drivers at nighttime.

This year, Suscha’s Bar, 1054 Pennsylvania Ave., is celebrating 100 years of business.

In addition to the bar's ownership spanning three generations, bar owner Ryan Lehmann said the clientele has as well.

"I still have people that come in when my grandparents still owned it,” Lehmann told The Sheboygan Press last week. “And then you have my friends who came in when I was in my early 20s. And now some of those people's kids come in. It’s just a generational thing that keeps coming back, which is cool.”...

Marinette, Menominee kindergarteners receive $50 savings accounts

MARINETTE, Wis.-- Every kindergarten student in Marinette, Wisconsin, and Menominee, Michigan, counties receives a $50 savings account with the Future Fund, established by the Marinette and Menominee Area Community Foundation in 2019.

The Future Fund is a long-term savings account, created to encourage hope, build savings, support the costs of career training and post-secondary education, and increase financial literacy amongst youth.

Historic Grignon Mansion in Kaukauna undergoes restoration project
WLUK

KAUKAUNA -- A historic building restoration project started Monday in Kaukauna.

A 185-year-old mansion is being worked on for the first time in more than 30 years.

The Grignon Mansion was built in 1837 by a fur trader, Charles Grignon as a gift to his wife. It was given historic significance status in 1972 for being considered ahead of its time.
