Tempo Music Studio and Art Gallery opens as a hub for the arts in Oshkosh
Oshkosh Northwestern
The first thing you notice when walking into the new Tempo Music and Art Gallery is an antique grand piano that sits in the middle of the room.

Next, you'll notice the artwork on the wall — original paintings by Tempo's owner, Austin Wenker. Some of people, others of flowers, they're all for sale.

They're the two forms of expression Wenker has combined in Tempo, 581 N. Main St. He wants it to be a hub for the arts in Oshkosh.

“Music and art have been my things since I was a little guy,” he said.

Besides creating visual art, Wenker gives lessons in piano, voice, violin and, interestingly, organ.

“It’s a beautiful instrument,” he said about the organ. “It’s a dying art.”

Although Wenker is putting the finishing details on his studio, including putting up a professional sign, he opened last week to teach students.

While he mostly teaches classical music, which is his background, he also works with jazz, blues, pop and rock.
