NWTC Marinette recognizes 72 graduates

MARINETTE — NWTC Marinette Campus celebrated 110 students as they completed their programs for the spring 2023 semester.

The campus held its commencement ceremony on May 18 to commemorate graduates and their successes this past academic year. A total of 72 students participated in the ceremony.

NWTC Marinette Campus Dean Cindy Bailey offered this assessment. “We are so proud of our graduating students who have worked so hard to achieve this life-changing accomplishment,” she said...

Door County Medical Center hosts open house in Sister Bay

DOOR COUNTY -- Door County Medical Center held an open house for their new Sister Bay Clinic and Rehab Center on Sunday, showing off their major investment in the wellbeing of northern Door County residents.

The new state-of-the-art clinic replaced the Fish Creek location earlier this spring to better serve the community. The building itself does not have the old hospital feel, which is what Door County Medical Center President and CEO Brian Stephens said they were hoping to make different. The event began with presentations and speeches from Stephens, new DCMC Board Chair Patti Vickman and Former Board Chair Bill Mundy....

SHEBOYGAN – Sheboygan’s 3rd Annual Juneteenth Celebration will be held at Kiwanis Park on Sunday, June 18 from 12-6 p.m. The event will be hosted by Black-American Community Outreach.

New High Cliff Golf Course owner deeply invested
INSIGHT ON BUSINESS

SHERWOOD -- A Sherwood native who grew up playing golf at High Cliff Golf Course is the new owner of the course.

Jesse Troestler closed on the purchase of the course May 24, taking ownership from a group of 11 investors led by Dan Rippl and Jeff Luniak. “It’s very much an emotional investment,” Troestler said, but he sees opportunity to succeed. “We truly have some of the best holes in the Fox Valley.”

The course is adjacent to High Cliff State Park, making it a haven for wildlife like deer, turkey and fox....

The organization's 15th annual Juneteenth Celebration invites the community to enjoy live music, food, children's activities, raffles and community vendors in the free event starting at 11 a.m. June 17 at Buttermilk Creek Park.

Door County shipwreck now listed on State Register of Historic Places

TOWN OF LIBERTY -- A Lake Michigan shipwreck off the coast of Door County is now listed on the State Register of Historic Places. The schooner Boaz lies at the bottom of eight feet of water in North Bay.

Built in 1869 by Amos C. Stoakes in Sheboygan, Boaz was one of a unique class of Great Lakes vessels: the double centerboard schooner. It spent most of its career carrying lumber from various ports throughout the Great Lakes region....
