Global New North aims to increase regional exports, foreign direct investment

NEW NORTH - New North Inc., the economic-development corporation serving the 18 counties of Northeast Wisconsin, as part of its Global New North initiative is holding a pair of informational events next week for companies in the region who are interested in exporting.

In the same vein, New North also has had in-person representation at two recent events, 2023 Tissue World Düsseldorf and 2023 SelectUSA Investment Summit, to increase the region’s profile within the international business community.

A to Z Machine to Expand in Appleton

APPLETON - A to Z Machine broke ground on a 30,000-square-foot production facility in Appleton, the first expansion as an employee-owned entity.

The new building, which is being built by Consolidated Construction, Co., will expand the company's first shift capabilities and support its continued growth.

The Northeast Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance’s is asking for nominations for the 12th annual “Excellence in Manufacturing/K-12 Partnerships Awards.”

The awards spotlight best practices of manufacturing and education collaborations throughout northeast Wisconsin. The awards dinner will be held Oct. 24 at the Resch Expo Center in Green Bay.  Nominations are due June 9.

UA 400 and Mechanical Contractors Association host Kick Off Your Future Skills Competition on May 4
FOX CITIES CHAMBER 

UA 400 Pipe Trades and the Mechanical Contractors Association (MCA) will host the 2023 Kick Off Your Future Skills Competition on Thursday, May 4th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the UA 400 Training Center in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. Eighteen high school teams from Northeast Wisconsin will complete a field goal project based on specific design requirements. Projects are judged on correct dimensions, weld quality, and design/appearance. The competition allows high school students to test their skill and connect with experts in the trades with the winning school will receiving a Miller 211 MIG Welder.

UA 400 Pipe Trades offers paid apprenticeships in pipefitting, pipe fabrication, plumbing and HVAC/R service. Their five-year apprenticeship programs provide classroom instruction and on-the-job training from UA Certified Instructors at UA 400 training centers alongside experienced UA journey workers and apprentices.
