New North: Emerging leaders from New North region selected for Forward 48 cohort

NEW NORTH - Seven emerging leaders from the New North region have been selected to the statewide cohort of the Forward 48 leadership program which begins on April 27.

In an effort to grow the next generation of leaders, New North Inc. last fall partnered with Forward 48, an established leadership development program, as it continues to expand into the region. The experience-based program connects the state’s emerging young talent with high-profile leaders.

“This program is designed to help keep the best young minds in the New North region,” says Barb LaMue, president and CEO of New North Inc. “It elevates our top talent from organizations of all sizes through experiential learning and meaningful mentorship, which expands their professional networks. Its focus on BIPOC, women and veteran emerging leaders sets our region up to have a diverse pool of leaders who will impact our communities in future decades. RIPON - Ripon College, a private institution with undergraduate enrollment of around 800, has broken ground on two major infrastructure projects on its 250-acre campus.

The first is an expanded and renovated science center and the second is the school’s first on-campus stadium.

GREEN BAY - While selecting the right players is always the number one goal on draft night, that’s not the only thing Packer officials say they’ll focus on this week in Kansas City.

Green Bay has placed a bid to host the 2025 NFL draft and team officials as well as representatives from Discover Green Bay are in Kansas City scouting out best practices for how to host an NFL draft.

“These trips are informative and there’s always a little twist in each location so to see that in person is helpful,” said Packers Director of Public Affairs Aaron Popkey who did acknowledge that Green Bay and the surrounding community have unique elements unlike any other NFL city...

Traveling Vietnam veterans memorial returns to Crivitz

CRIVITZ -  A traveling tribute to Vietnam veterans will be making a stop in Marinette County.

"The Wall that Heals," a 3/4 scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, is returning to Crivitz and will be on display at the Crivitz Museum grounds from June 1-4, 2023.

UW Oshkosh selects Edwin Martini as next provost to lead faculty, academic programs

OSHKOSH - Following a nationwide search, the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh has named 20-year higher education professional Edwin Martini the next provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs.

Martini will begin work July 5, following the retirement of Provost John Koker who has held the post since October 2018.

Eight school districts in the New North Region were awarded Fab Lab grants through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.

A fab lab, short for fabrication laboratory, is a high-technology workshop equipped with computer-controlled manufacturing components such as 3D printers, laser engravers, computer numerical control (CNC) routers, and plasma cutters. Through its Fab Lab Grant Program, WEDC is supporting the purchase of fab lab equipment for instructional and educational purposes for K-12 students across the state...

Fox Valley Technical College honored with national marketing award
FOX CITIES CHAMBER

Fox Valley Technical College received a 2022 Paragon Award from the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) at the council’s national conference earlier this month in Orlando, Florida. The Bronze Award, for Successful Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Marketing, celebrates the college’s marketing team for its work highlighting FVTC graduate Xiong Yang and his history-making career as one of only a handful of Hmong firefighters in Wisconsin.

“We are honored Xiong shared his family’s story of perseverance with our team, and in turn, trusted us to share it with our college community,” says Barb Dreger, director of College Marketing. “Xiong is using his profession as an outreach tool to embrace diversity in the community and inspire Hmong children to think about their future. Immel Construction is pleased to announce that we recently received the 2022
Corporate Safety Award from the Wisconsin Safety Council.This program honors leaders in Wisconsin for achieving excellence in safety & health. The multiphase selection process included an evaluation of statistical data relating to companies’ incident rates to develop a core group of finalists. These finalists were invited to answer a seriesof questions pertaining to workplace health and safety issues. Immel Construction was able tohighlight our recent Risk Management improvements and company accomplishments from the success of our Hard Hat Academy training program to achieving 1 million hours without a lost time injury.
