Proposed development for Marquette School property in Kewaunee

KEWAUNEE – The City of Kewaunee and its residents are paying over $74,000 a year to maintain and leave the former Marquette School property undeveloped, which could soon change.

The City of Kewaunee says they were approached by a developer who wants to build some new homes on the former Marquette School property. The City is reportedly paying off a sizable loan for cleaning up the old school and is paying to maintain the property....

Lakeshore Technical College launches grant pilot program to help jail inmates
SEEHAFER NEWS 

CLEVELAND -- A new pilot program to help inmates is being launched at Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland.

The school has announced that a newly awarded $75,000 grant along with local program partners are supplementing other grant funds to total a $160,000 investment in the program.

It is aimed at helping inmates avoid further incarceration by providing instruction in basic work readiness skills and also providing welding training...

Local high school to offer first-of-its-kind diesel mechanic program

CASCO -- Luxemburg-Casco will soon be home to the first high school program in the state designed specifically to train diesel mechanics.

Construction is now underway to transform the former middle school in Casco into Ahnapee Diesel.

A partnership between the district, Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, and community businesses, is driving the program.

Oneida Nation turns to 'Harry Potter'-style talking portraits to promote virtual tourism ahead of 200th anniversary

ONEIDA – As if they were in a "Harry Potter" film, antique portraits will come to life, talking to each other and to visitors in an upcoming exhibit on the Oneida Reservation.

The portraits feature tribal citizens acting in roles of their individual ancestors who played important parts in the two-century history of the Oneida Nation in Wisconsin.

The panels will be displayed as part of a cultural and tourism exhibit on the reservation later this year...
