Survey: 35 percent of businesses at risk of closing

Thirty-five percent of Wisconsin businesses responding to a University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh statewide survey will be forced to close if current conditions persist for more than three months amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The survey, which yielded nearly 2,550 responses from companies in 63 of the state’s 72 counties, covers the period April 1-10, said Jeffrey Sachse, director of the UW-Oshkosh Center for Customized Research and Services.

Lending a hand (sanitizer): Egg Harbor distillery to give out free sanitizer on Saturday

If you're in the area of Hatch Distilling Company, then you don't need luck to find hand sanitizer.

The Egg Harbor distillery will pass out free 2- to 6-ounce hand sanitizer bottles outside of their shop on Saturday, with a one-bottle-per-vehicle limit.

City of De Pere offering no-interest loans to small businesses

It may not be a ton of money, but it can serve as a safety net for small businesses struggling in De Pere.

“Being that it is a zero-interest loan program," said Daniel Lindstrom, De Pere's Director of Development Services. "You may not need it if we are up and running in the next few months and they can pay it back if they need to in advance, but it does provide those businesses with cushion.”
