Nicolet Bank expands into Michigan with $248 million deal to acquire mBank

GREEN BAY - Nicolet National Bank will expand its reach into Michigan with an acquisition announced Monday afternoon.

Nicolet Bankshares Inc., the bank's parent company, will buy Mackinac Financial Corp., parent company of Michigan-based mBank, for a mix of cash and stock valued at $248 million.

In Nicolet, mBank executives said they found a bank that shares a culture, commitment to support communities where they operate and a shared banking platform, a key commonality that will help smooth the transition...

Fox Cities PAC announces more shows for 2021-22 season events

APPLETON - As live performances slowly begin to make a resurgence after being put on hold for the last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center announced more shows coming to the theater.

The center Monday night released its Boldt Arts Alive! and Spotlight Series lineups. Tickets for these shows will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. April 19.

“We are so eager to return to sharing in live performances together," Fox Cities Performing Arts Center President Maria Van Laanen said. "After nearly 18 months apart, it will be an emotional moment to see audiences engaged and inspired in person once again."...

Green Bay is home to the world's largest freshwater estuary. It's in the running to be a national research reserve.

Green Bay is the largest freshwater estuary in the world, and now the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is leading the search for a site between Marinette and Door County to become a National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR.)

This is the second step toward creating a NERR in Northeast Wisconsin. It would be the third on the Great Lakes and the 30th across the country.

Reserves receive most of their funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), with a local agency managing day-to-day operations. In this case that would be UW-Green Bay....
