Nicolet Bank expands into Eau Claire and Minnesota with acquisition of Charter Bank
GREEN BAY PRESS GAZETTE 

GREEN BAY - Nicolet National Bank would expand into western Wisconsin and the Twin Cities suburbs by acquiring an Eau Claire-based bank in a deal announced Wednesday morning.

Nicolet Bankshares Inc., the Green Bay-based bank’s parent company, will buy Charter Bankshares Inc., the parent company of Charter Bank, in a 75% stock, 25% cash deal valued at $158 million.

The purchase would add four branches to Nicolet’s network, two in the Chippewa Valley and two in suburbs southwest of the Twin Cities. Charter recently bought land for a fifth branch, in Chippewa Falls, and Nicolet will move forward with those plans...

New Aurora Medical Center to open clinical offices starting in April, full hospital in July

SHEBOYGAN – The much-anticipated $330 million Aurora Medical Center – Sheboygan County will begin opening clinical offices in April, with the full hospital opening in July at the 56-acre campus located at 3400 Union Ave. in Sheboygan.

“As the greater Sheboygan community grew, so did our services. The community will start seeing clinical areas move into the new facility this spring. We are moving into this new facility in a phased approach and are on track to open the entire facility this July,” said Jessica Bauer, Central WI Patient Service Area President for Advocate Aurora Health...

Year-round shelter, tiny homes village, other homelessness projects in Winnebago County get boost from $10.3 million grant
OSHKOSH NORTHWESTERN

OSHKOSH – A $10.3 million grant will allow Winnebago County and five nonprofits to come together in new ways to address homelessness.

The Winnebago County Board at a special Tuesday meeting voted to accept the Neighborhood Investment Fund grant money, which Gov. Tony Evers announced March 3 to help neighborhoods recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. The approval was on a voice vote with no "nays." County Supervisors Vicki Schorse and Joel Rasmussen abstained....

A new study on the paper industry focused on sustaining a capable workforce.

In Kaukauna is one of the oldest original paper mills in the state. It now houses offices and a public library, but it’s just one example of the rich industry of the paper industry here in Wisconsin. It’s where members of the paper industry met Wednesday to hear the findings of this workforce study.....

New housing options are coming online throughout Manitowoc County, with many more still needed across all levels, from affordable to workforce to senior living to single family and high end.

The need for housing ties closely to the issue of workforce. Many businesses are expanding and can’t hire workers fast enough, says Adam Tegen, community development director for the City of Manitowoc. Large employers including Redline Plastics, Dramm Corp. and Kaysun Corp. are adding workers and have either completed expansions or are nearing doing so. Sheboygan awarded $20K "Better Cities for Pets" grant

Sheboygan is one of five U.S. cities that has been awarded a $20,000 “Better Cities for Pets” grant. The program is an initiative of Mars Petcare, a major pet food and health products corportation.

The other four cities selected from the 2021 applicants to the competitive grant program were Las Vegas, Nevada; Dallas, Texas; Key West, Florida and Oakland, California...
