ASHWAUBENON - A Wisconsin-based company used artificial intelligence and satellite imagery to independently track the Chinese spy balloon's path across the United States before it was shot down.
The New York Times and Wired have published stories about how Delafield-based Synthetaic took founder and CEO Corey Jaskolski's "incredibly crude hand drawing" of what the balloon would look like from space, daily satellite images, and artificial intelligence to quickly find the balloon and trace its path halfway around the globe before it was shot down Feb. 4 off the coast of South Carolina.
Jaskolski said the March 20 New York Times report in particular provided independent validation of Synthetaic's findings and of what the company's Rapid Automatic Image Categorization software can do. He said the work shows the company's technology can be effectively used at a global level...

FOND DU LAC – Women-owned salons and businesses can empower women and other clients that use their services, which is what Sarah Sippel aimed to do with Stel&Shay Salon. Sippel opened the salon, 131 S. Main St., in 2019 with three other independent stylists: Danielle Rickmeyer, Sam McLaughlin and permanent makeup artist Lisa Head. The four of them soon grew to eight, each with their own business and functioning as one like-minded team, with more to come as Sippel said the salon works to expand by the end of the summer...

Renewable biofuel startup company produces renewable diesel, jet fuel with UW Oshkosh THE BADGER HERALD
OSHKOSH -- UW Oshkosh has partnered with Agra Energy, a California-based renewable fuel production company, to produce carbon-neutral synthetic diesel. Years of sustainable fuel research allowed UWO to design a digester that converts cow manure into synthetic diesel identical to regular diesel. UWO students are directly involved in the research and production, with the commercial facility set to open in late April 2023 at Dairyland Farm in New Franken, Wisconsin. According to Agra President Mason Parker, the commercial digester will take raw biomatter, otherwise known as manure, and finish the chemical breakdown begun in the cow’s stomach.
