New North Economic Development Summit
Program set for New North Summit virtual event; Early registration rate ends today - Leaders from WEDC, Green Bay Packers, Green Bay Packaging highlight March 11 lineup

The program lineup for the first of three virtual events – Thursday, March 11, from 8:30-10 a.m. – leading up to the in-person New North Summit has been set. It is highlighted by leadership from the state’s lead economic development organization and from its internationally known football team.
Today, March 5, is the final day to receive the discounted early registration rate of $75. Online registration is available at www.newnorthsummit.com. After today, the entry fee increases to $90. It will be $100 at the door on the day of the in-person event, June 10. Student tickets are priced at $15.

Lawrence University announces Laurie Carter as its next president, replacing Mark Burstein

APPLETON, Wis.  – Lawrence University's 17th president will be Laurie Carter, the first person of color to lead the liberal arts college in its 174-year history.  Carter, who's president of Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania, will replace current President Mark Burstein on July 1. Burstein announced last fall he would be leaving his post at the end of the academic year after eight years at Lawrence. In a Thursday video announcing Carter's appointment, she said she was honored to have the opportunity to lead a university steeped in excellence.

TDS Telecom will expand its fiber network to 60,000 homes in the Fox Cities by 2022

APPLETON, WI -TDS Telecom, which is based in Madison, announced last month that it is bringing its fiber-to-the-home network to about 60,000 addresses in the Fox Cities. There is no charge to residents unless they purchase the company's services. TDS competitors include Spectrum and AT&T.

APPLETON, WI - The words “diversity” and “inclusion” are not taboo subjects — that’s the message Bes McGee hopes to get across through her business, Bes Knows Best.   Bes Knows Best, LLC is a diversity and inclusion coaching business based in Appleton. McGee, who operates the one-woman show by herself, founded Bes Knows Best in January 2020. She helps businesses implement diversity and inclusion strategies and helps them “really understand the benefits of having a diverse work environment,” she said.

Talent Development - COVID-19 Recovery in the New North 
Over $500K awarded to help address rural healthcare workforce shortages

WFRV – The Bay Area Workforce Development Board (Bay Area WDB) announced a grant of $507,000 to help address rural healthcare workforce shortages.
According to a release, the award is a partnership with five other workforce boards in Wisconsin, and is a part of $2.5 million federal grant.

EPIC Event Center in Ashwaubenon to open in April; announces new lineup through November

ASHWAUBENON, WI - The new EPIC Event Center has announced its inaugural batch of shows in advance of its opening next month.
