NEW Construction Alliance Annual Meeting to be held Feb. 28 in Appleton
NEW NORTH, INC.

NEW NORTH – The Annual Meeting of the NEW Construction Alliance (NEWCA) will be held on February 28 at 3 p.m. There is no cost to attend the event and attendees do not need to be a NEWCA member. Any organization that would like to learn more about the alliance and/or who is part of the construction industry is welcome and encouraged to participate.

Dennis Winters, chief economist of the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD), will share insights on key economic indicators and workforce trends for 2023 at the meeting. NEWCA board members subsequently will provide updates on the alliance’s priorities this year.

The NEWCA Annual Meeting will be conducted on the upper level of Holidays Pub & Grill, located at 3950 N. Richmond St. in Appleton, from 3-4:30 p.m. A networking reception follows on-site until 6 p.m.; a cash bar will be available, and light hors d’oeuvres will be provided...

GRAND CHUTE -- In just a few months, much of Fox Cities Stadium will have a new look.

"It's big league," Manager Joe Ayrault said. "I mean, seeing the stuff come up at the end of the season and saw what they were going to do with the renovations -- it's going to be incredible."

MARINETTE — Business owners in Marinette County are one step closer to securing coveted government contracts.

On Thursday, a group of small business owners attended a workshop with representatives across the state to learn more about the qualifications needed to certify their small business as a HUBZone, which stands for Historically Underutilized Business Zone. In November 2022, Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers’ application for HUBZone status was approved for Marinette County.

No application needed: UWGB first in state to admit all 2024 Green Bay School District graduating seniors

GREEN BAY ― Starting next year, no Green Bay School District seniors will need to apply to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. They will already be admitted.

UW-Green Bay is the state's first higher education institution to do away with the application process for an entire school district of students. About 1,325 students will be directly admitted next year.

ROCK ISLAND - The Wisconsin State Building Commission approved an award of more than $1.4 million to renovate the historic Thordarson Boathouse, the first thing most visitors to Rock Island State Park see as they come to the island.

The commission also approved $71,150 in stewardship matching grant funds, from a total of $500,000 across the state, to the "friends" groups for Door County's four other state parks and the Ice Age Trail Alliance for work at its terminus in Potawatomi State Park...
