WISCONSIN PROCUREMENT INSTITUTE (WPI)

IN PERSON at the Marinette County Courthouse - 1926 Hall Ave Marinette, WI
February 9 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

In November 2022, it was announced that Governor Evers’s application to the U.S. Small Business Administration for HUBZone status for Jackson and Marinette Counties was approved.

The HUBZone program (Historically Underutilized Business Zone) supports small business growth with a goal of awarding at least 3% of federal contract dollars as well as 3% of large federal contractor subcontracting dollars to certified companies each year. The HUBZone map now includes Jackson and Marinette counties on the SBA HUBZone map as “Governor-Designated Covered Areas.” Currently, many Federal agencies and Federal prime contractors are not meeting their HUBZone goals. Oshkosh Defense selected to submit prototypes in race for $5 billion heavy-duty military truck contract
OSHKOSH NORTHWESTERN

Oshkosh Defense is gearing up to make a run at a $5 billion contract to build the U.S. Army's next generation of heavy-duty tactical trucks.

The company, a subsidary of Oshkosh Corp., is one of four companies recently selected to deliver protoype trucks for evaluation later this year.

What's the government looking for in this contract?
The initial contract is a small (by Oshkosh Defense standards) agreement to develop prototypes for the next generation of heavy-duty military transport trucks, known as Common Tactical Trucks, or CTTs. The military wants the new versions of its trucks to employ updated technology and be more standardized to minimize differences in maintenance and operations...

EMS professionals sound alarm about staffing shortages
WLUK

ASHWAUBENON -- The Wisconsin EMS Association (WEMSA) is hosting its annual conference and expo in the Green Bay area this year.

Hundreds of EMS professionals are attending and say they are facing similar obstacles.

“I feel like EMS is at pretty dire state right now," said Alan DeYoung, executive director of the Wisconsin EMS Association.

He says many departments need more staff and funding.

DeYoung says EMS is not funded by the state because it's considered non-essential.

Which means there's no requirement for agencies to respond to calls...

Women military veterans can often feel 'pushed to the side' after their service. A national campaign is moving across Wisconsin to change that.
SHEBOYGAN PRESS

MANITOWOC -- The first legal thing Jessica Martell did when she turned 18 was enlist in the U.S. Army.

After watching the 9/11 attacks, Martell "wanted to help contribute in any way that I could to protect my country, to protect my family (and) make sure that those attacks didn't ever happen again.”

She served for 10 years at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, with a three-year stint in Germany.

But when she came back, Martell wasn’t acknowledged for her service...

Kewaunee winery is hosting Midwest's largest outdoor winter wine festival
GREEN BAY PRESS GAZETTE
