NEW NORTH, INC

NEW NORTH – New North Inc., the regional economic development corporation serving the 18 counties of Northeast Wisconsin, this week is launching a multi-pronged digital campaign – More YOU in NEW (North East Wisconsin) – designed to attract and retain talent to the area. Set to extend into early summer of this year, the program focuses on a diverse group of New North residents and why they chose to make the New North region a work/life destination, telling their stories through video testimonials and related social-media posts.

The videos share the stories of individuals who moved to the New North from outside the region, their experiences and what made them fall in love with the area. Also showcased within the videos are the innovative, artistic and inclusive qualities of the New North...

NWTC offering new course in industrial maintenance
NORTHEAST WISCONSIN TECHNICAL COLLEGE (NWTC)   

You can now pursue a certificate in industrial maintenance thanks to NWTC’s new course offerings. The new Industrial Maintenance Fundamentals course will be part of NWTC’s 16 week program offerings, and classes will run two nights a week, with some of the coursework being self paced so you can complete it off site. The course aims to help those interested including adult learners who may be currently working full time. April Konitzer, the Regional Director at NWTC Sturgeon Bay and Luxemburg campuses says that the course will help provide people with the skills to do a number of jobs in the industrial field...

Manitowoc approves sale of old Mirro Company site

MANITOWOC -- The old Mirro Company site has been vacant for a while, but it could see new life in the form of affordable housing. The City Council has approved the sale of the property to Wire Capital Group. “We met with them, got through some conceptional planning on it, and are trying to figure out some of the funding streams that would be utilized,” said Adam Tegen, City Community Development Director.

Tegen says the sale price of $1 is based on a number of factors. “It’s not much, but it is a brownfield site that has issues so it’s not a premium piece of property,” he said...

As the second phase of the Titletown development began to come to life, Charlie Millerwise, director of development and hospitality for the Green Bay Packers, admits he experienced a few moments of doubt as he watched the trend toward more remote work during the pandemic. After all, in addition to apartments, the newly completed phase of the project features a seven-story office tower.

Green Bay area one step closer to visitors center after Evers awards tourism funds

ASHWAUBENON - Green Bay's tourism marketing agency has secured the final $2.5 million needed to start construction on a visitors center.

Gov. Tony Evers on Wednesday visited the Discover Green Bay offices to announce money for the visitor center was included in $21.9 million in Tourism Capital Investment Grants awarded to 27 local governments and tourism agencies.

The Door County Maritime Museum and Lighthouse Preservation Society also received $1.75 million to expand its Sturgeon Bay location...

Manitowoc Harbor Freight Tools will open in the former Shopko site this month. Here's what to know about the new store

MANITOWOC - Get your shopping lists ready.

Harbor Freight Tools will open its doors in Manitowoc Feb. 19. The tool and equipment retailer's new store will be in the former Manitowoc Shopko building, 3415 Calumet Ave.

The former Shopko site has sat empty since the store closed in April 2019 after the company’s parent, Specialty Retail Shops Holding Corp., and 12 of its subsidiaries, filed for bankruptcy.

Harbor Freight Tools says the store will only take up a portion of the former Shopko site, meaning another retailer will probably move in at some point....
