NEW NORTH – Nominations are open until March 15 for Insight Publications’ third-annual Women of Influence in the New North Region awards, which will be presented Tuesday, Aug. 2 in Green Bay.

Women leaders of all ages from all industries are eligible to be nominated for the honor, but they must live or work within the 18-county New North Region (Wisconsin’s Florence, Oconto, Marinette, Menominee, Shawano, Door, Waupaca, Outagamie, Brown, Kewaunee, Waushara, Winnebago, Calumet, Manitowoc, Green Lake, Marquette, Fond du Lac and Sheboygan Counties). Nominators are encouraged to re-submit past nominations, but nominations will not be carried over...

Schneider intermodal moving western rail service to Union Pacific

XPO Logistics announces opening of new trucking terminal in Sheboygan
SHEBOYGAN SUN

SHEBOYGAN - Connecticut-based XPO Logistics, Inc. has announced the opening of a new less-than-truckload terminal in Sheboygan.

The 26-door cross-dock terminal will increase customer service capacity for the freight company, which also opened a 24-door terminal in Texarkana, Arkansas.

It is the latest in a series of efforts to enhance freight flows at a time when supply chain issues have paralyzed many businesses. In October 2021, XPO opened a 264-door terminal in Chicago Heights, Illinois...

BELLEVUE – The nationwide shortage of registered nurses is getting worse with each passing month. Nursing was number five for the most “in-demand” job in February 2021, according to a recent study from St. Augustine University.

As of now, more than 2.1 million nurses are needed for the shortfall. Here in northeast Wisconsin, Bellin College is preparing for the next generation of nurses.

“I’ll be a fourth-generation nurse when I graduate here,” said Jensen Knavis. For students like her, nursing is in her blood. “I’ve always had this passion for caring for people and making a difference, so I think that’s why I decided to come into healthcare.”..

Menominee tribe receives federal grant to buy new vehicles

KESHENA -- The Menominee tribe is receiving a $270,000 federal grant to buy new vehicles.

The U.S. Department of Transportation says the grant will be used for vehicles that meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements and to replace older vehicles that have exceeded their useful life.

The new vehicles will allow the tribe to provide transportation for people traveling to jobs and to receive health care and other community services.....

LITTLE CHUTE – EnTech Solutions, a full-service clean energy solutions provider, has installed two renewable energy microgrids on the site of Agropur’s new 210,000-square-foot cheese production facility being built in Little Chute, Wisconsin.

Agropur is the largest dairy cooperative in North America, and this facility will enable the company to more than double its milk processing capabilities. Project job sites like this one require significant electrical power to support the work being done by contractors and subcontractors, including powering job trailers, site lighting and power tools. Agropur sought to utilize the cleanest energy possible for this year-long construction project....
