GREEN BAY – Schneider, a Green Bay-headquartered multimodal provider of transportation, intermodal and logistics services, will soon begin taking delivery of nearly 100 Class 8 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) at its intermodal operations in Southern California.

Schneider’s first Freightliner eCascadia, manufactured by Daimler Truck North America (DTNA), is set to roll off the assembly line at the Portland, Oregon, DTNA plant.

Schneider President/CEO Mark Rourke said incorporating 100 Class 8 BEVs into its fleet will give Schneider one of the largest electric fleets in North America...

When entrepreneur and talent specialist Ian Abston launched Forward 48 in 2020, he couldn’t have foreseen that the first cohort of the program, which he envisioned fostering meaningful in-person conversations between Milwaukee’s current and aspiring community champions, would end up being held only online.

But, says Forward 48 President Maurice Thomas, “we realized people actually liked virtual.” Technology also gave the organization, which started as a partnership between the Greater Milwaukee Committee and Abston’s Hoan Group, the confidence to grow quickly and think bigger.

Appleton airport gets $40 million facelift

APPLETON – Flying in and out of the Appleton International Airport has gotten a lot easier in the last year – Airport Director Abe Weber said that's thanks to $40 million worth of infrastructure improvements.

Weber said the airport is set to have its busiest year on record.

“Consumers and business travelers are realizing it’s faster and easier to fly out of Appleton, no matter their destination,” he said. “We experienced growth in all areas.”...

The chamber’s board of directors announced it has hired Stacey Von Busch to fill the part-time position with former director Jenny Rybicki moving on.

“When (Rybicki) was hired five years ago, she had stated she would commit to the chamber for five years and at which point, she'd like to move on,” Board Vice President Holly Krueger (lead director at Encompass Pulaski Center) said. “So, now that we're at the end of that five years, we started the process of looking for her replacement.”...

GREEN BAY — The size of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay was one of the things Erika Schraufnagel liked when she was picking her college.

She’s a first-year student from Franklin.

“My class sizes, my largest one is 60 people, and that’s one of my gen-eds, but smaller ones are maybe five students,” Schraufnagel said. “You really get that one-on-one connection and you get the help that you need with things.”

Wisconsin's outdoor recreation industry grew to a record $8.7 billion
MILWAUKEE BUSINESS JOURNAL

The Wisconsin Department of Tourism saw another record-breaking year in outdoor recreation as the industry grew to a high of $8.7 billion in 2021, a 14.1% increase.

That is almost three times faster than the growth of the state's overall economy, which was 4.6%.

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers shared the annual data from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis in mid December.

“From hunting and fishing to boating and paddling to snowboarding and skiing, outdoor recreation is part of who we are as a people and a state — it improves our quality of life, draws visitors from all over the world, supports tens of thousands and serves as a major economic driver for communities across Wisconsin,” Evers said in a press release...
