Subject: Understanding and Addressing Social Influencers of Health and Education webinar-tomorrow!

Please join us Tuesday, October 26th at 3pm ET for a new webinar on the social influencers of health and education hosted by the Center for Health and Health Care in Schools, the School-Based Health Alliance, and the National Center for School Mental Health.

Child health and learning are influenced by characteristics of the environments in which they live - socioeconomic status, food access, access to services, racism, and more. The Social Influencers of Health and Education (SIHE), an alternative framing of the social determinants of health, refers to the social and environmental conditions in a child’s surroundings that affect a wide range of health, functioning, the prevalence of risks, and quality-of-life outcomes. School health partners, including school-based health centers and comprehensive school mental health systems, are well-positioned to help overcome these obstacles. This webinar will introduce the SIHE and discuss how to assess SIHE strengths and gaps in students through screening and surveillance and describe how a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) framework can organize school-based SIHE interventions.
