Subject: The University of Colorado Boulder Seeks Applicants for Botvin LifeSkills Training Middle School Program

Dear Colleague,

The Prevention Science Program at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) is seeking grant applicants for the Botvin LifeSkills Training Middle School Program (Fall 2025 – Spring 2028).


This groundbreaking substance abuse and violence prevention program is based on more than 35 years of rigorous scientific research. LifeSkills Training is comprehensive, dynamic, and developmentally designed to promote mental health and positive youth development.


The grant provides three years of training and program materials to eligible schools, districts, and education agencies, beginning in Fall 2025.


Eligibility requirements

  • School, district, or educational agency serving grades 6-8 or 7-9

  • Support by schools and instructors, with commitment to implementation guidelines for program integrity

  • Identify a “Site Coordinator” and “Co-Coordinator” in the district to oversee and champion the LST effort

  • Allow CU Boulder to monitor fidelity through lesson observations, feedback surveys, and a site visit

  • Provide aggregate demographics (gender and race/ethnicity) of students receiving program

Grant applications will be accepted October 3, 2024 – February 3, 2025 from schools, districts, or educational agencies in the following states: AL, AZ, CO, GA, IL, KY, LA, MI, NJ, NM, OH, OK, PA, TN, VA, and WV.
