Subject: Supporting Schools & Communities

Dear Colleague,

Our thoughts are with the victims and all those impacted by recent shootings, including the attacks on Asian communities in Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay. There have been over 40 mass shootings in 2023 in the US, highlighting the devastating impacts of gun violence. The near-daily news reports are staggering. Many individuals and communities in our schools are saddened and suffering from these events. Below are some resources to support families, educators, students, healthcare and mental healthcare professionals, administrators, and other school staff.

On 1/31 at 12p ET, the UCLA-Duke NCCTS and the PHI Center for Asian American and Asian Immigrant Child Trauma-Informed Care and Prevention (Lotus Project) are hosting an NCTSN Community Session to provide a space for reflection and discussion around action steps. NCTSN members who are AAPI and standing in solidarity with AAPI communities are invited to attend.
