Subject: Seeking school mental health clinicians and supervisors for K-12 schools

Dear Colleague,

We are seeking feedback on a new assessment platform for school mental health!

With funding from the National Institute for Mental Health (NIMH), 3C Institute and the National Center of School Mental Health (NCSMH) are developing a unique assessment platform for school mental health (SMH) providers. The SHARE (Student Health Assessment, Response, and Evaluation) software system will streamline administration, scoring, and reporting of validated mental health (MH) and MH-related assessment measures for screening, progress monitoring, and evaluation of student mental health and well-being. SHARE will enable school mental health (SMH) providers to collect data from teachers, caregivers, and students themselves and provide tailored professional development resources to support use of that data to inform treatment planning and MH services for youth.

We are seeking (1) individuals who supervise or oversee school mental health providers in K-12 schools and (2) clinicians (licensed psychologists, social workers, or counselors) who are currently working in K-12 schools to support student MH and well-being.

(1) Supervisors are needed to help identify SMH providers to participate in a 3-month pilot and provide feedback to make sure the SHARE system is easy to use and provides meaningful data to inform planning and delivery of SMH services. Participation will include the following:

• Distribute pilot information to SMH providers with a link to sign up – to be sent out no later than January 24, 2025

  • Up to 70 SMH providers will be selected to participate in the pilot from those who sign up by the given due date – providers will be notified regarding selection no later than February 17, 2025

  • Selected SMH providers will complete a training webinar no later than February 21, 2025

  • Selected SMH providers will use SHARE with their students from February 24, 2025 through May 19, 2025

  • Selected SMH providers will complete surveys and attend a follow-up focus group (if needed) to evaluate their experience with SHARE

• Attend a 1-hour Study Overview webinar to review study goals and how to use SHARE's administrative functions to oversee/supervise SMH providers – to be completed no later than January 31, 2025

• Participate in a ~30 minute telephone interview with a 3C researcher to discuss administrative SMH needs and current costs for training and support in the area of SMH assessment

• Access SHARE weekly during the pilot period to review use by SMH providers under your supervision

• Complete a brief online survey rating your experience with SHARE at the end of the pilot

• Attend a follow-up focus group and/or phone interview (if needed) to provide feedback and/or recommendations for SHARE

To participate, submit this interest survey no later than January 10, 2025.

We will notify you if you are selected to participate by January 20, 2025. Participation will take approximately 3 months, and all study activities must be completed no later than May 30, 2025. As a thank you for participating in this study, you may receive up to $250.

(2) Clinicians are needed to make sure the SHARE system is easy to use and feasible for regular use. Participation will include the following:

• Attend an orientation and training webinar on study goals and how to use SHARE

• Complete a brief online survey to assess your level of experience and comfort using MH assessments

• Use SHARE in your typical practice with a minimum of 5 students over a 3-month pilot test period (i.e., use SHARE to collect and interpret MH-related measures) from February 24, 2025 through May 19, 2025

• Complete 3 brief surveys related to attitudes, skills, and comfort of using data in practice (once before and once after using SHARE)

• Complete the professional development (PD) courses available in SHARE

• Evaluate the SHARE system by completing rating scales in the following areas: usability, ease of integration with existing systems, feasibility, acceptability, comparative value, and advocacy (recommending SHARE to colleagues)

• Attend a 1-hour focus group (if needed) via video conference to provide feedback and/or recommendations for SHARE

To participate, submit this interest survey no later than February 10, 2025.
