Research Participation Requests

Examining the Role of School Counselor's Self-Efficacy, Psychological Empowerment, and Critical Consciousness on Social Determinants of Health Competency

You are invited to participate in a research study conducted by Tevin Middleton in the Department of Counselor Education at the University of Iowa. The study aims to examine the effects of school counselor self-efficacy, psychological empowerment, and critical consciousness on social determinants of health competency. The study will include two phases, and this is your invitation to participate in the first phase only. You are eligible to participate in this study if you:

  1. Have an active license/certification in school counseling from a U.S. State or territory, and

  2. Currently serve as school counselor in a K-12 setting in a U.S. State or territory.

If you would like to participate, you will complete an electronic survey, which should take approximately 20-25 minutes to complete. Your responses will be anonymous and your participation is voluntary. Upon completion of the survey, you will be eligible to enter a lottery for one of one hundred $25 Amazon electronic gift cards. University of Washington Research Study to Promote Student Behavioral Health

A team of University of Washington researchers is looking for schools interested in joining a research project to test the efficacy of a digital app to promote student behavioral health: ibestt.


ibestt helps school teams collaborate to develop and implement positive behavior supports in classrooms. University of Washington Researcher Seeks Adolescents and Young Adults for

 Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Study

Adolescents and young adults are invited to participate in a NIH-funded research study conducted by Michael D. Pullmann, PhD, in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington. Appa Health is providing FREE 1:1 weekly mentoring and/or a digital curriculum developed by experts from Yale, UCSF, and Stanford. Their structured, 12-week programs are based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. The study is focused on its effectiveness at improving mental health outcomes and CBT skills.

To be eligible for the study, participants must:

  1. Be 13-18 years old

  2. Experience difficulties with low mood or anxiety

  3. Live in the US

  4. Speak/write in English

  5. Have a legal guardian who is fluent in English or Spanish

Interested individuals should complete this 1-minute form to learn more. School mental health personnel and teachers are encouraged to share details of this study with their mentees and/or students.
