Subject: Job Openings at the NCSMH

The National Center for School Mental Health has exciting opportunities to work as a Research Coordinator and a Research Assistant with the University of Maryland’s Department of Psychiatry, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry on the Baltimore campus. The positions will support the newly-funded Maryland School Mental Health Response Program.

The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) is developing the Maryland School Mental Health Response Program to serve the needs of students who have experienced adversity or trauma and who are stressed beyond their ability to cope. The vision of support for schools, overburdened with mental health issues, will allow for quick response to local schools and school systems as they work to meet the needs of all students. The Maryland School Mental Health Response Program will include Regional School Mental Health Response Teams that will enrich and enhance, not replace, the work of site-based student support services personnel (school psychologists, school counselors, pupil personnel workers, school social workers, and school nurses). Based on a clinical and consultation response model these regional teams will provide efficient direct response services and, in addition, professional development for schools and school systems about crisis management and other mental health concerns.
