Dear Colleague,

The Connecting Kids to Coverage National Campaign invites you to attend a webinar featuring NCSMH faculty Drs. Sharon Hoover and Britt Patterson!

Medicaid and CHIP Behavioral Health Services:

Impact of School-Based Mental Health Care

Wednesday, May 8, 3-4p ET

Mental health is a key contributor to children’s overall health and wellbeing, affecting how they think, feel, and act. As increases in youth mental health issues persist, the Connecting Kids to Coverage National Campaign invites you to attend a webinar focused on trends in youth mental health, the behavioral health services covered through Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and how school-based mental health services can help improve student outcomes.

When mental health services are embedded in schools, the more students have a chance to access services and experience better overall health outcomes.

In this Mental Health Awareness Month webinar, experts will discuss the latest data and trends regarding youth mental health, the importance of school-based health services, best practices for working with partners and stakeholders to build effective school-based programs, and tools to help connect children to care during outreach and enrollment efforts.

Webinar speakers:

  • Kate Ginnis, Senior Policy Advisor, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)

  • Sharon Hoover, Co-Director, National Center for School Mental Health

  • Britt Patterson, Faculty, National Center for School Mental Health

  • Porter Novelli Public Services, Outreach Contractor, Connecting Kids to Coverage National Campaign
