Announcing Deep Dive Leader Rachel Laser:

Religious Liberty and the Intersection with Racism

Rachel Laser is a lawyer, advocate and strategist who has dedicated the last two decades of her life to fighting to make the country inclusive for all Americans. She has a proven track record of uniting both faith and secular leaders and advocacy organizations to make tangible progress on some of the most important issues of our time.

And as a religious minority – she was raised as a Reform Jew – she understands personally how much it matters that our laws treat everyone fairly and equally. She is an advocate for racial justice and has led workshops, given speeches and worked with schools and universities to challenge racism and expose privilege.

Rachel will be hosting one of our "Deep Dives," interactive, intensive learning sessions that will help equip us to do the hard work of ending racism.

The Christian Unity Gathering 2018

A.C.T. to End Racism: Hard Truths in Beloved Community

“The reign of God is among you.” Jesus said it again and again. The disciples acted as if they believed it. They broke with their old way of life and began to walk with Jesus in a new way that honored the image of God in all people (Gen 1:26); announced good news to the poor (Luke 4:18), and welcomed all to the table (Matt 9:10-11).

The Christian Unity Gathering 2018 follows the rally of April. We will imagine the world without racism and will identify next steps to help create that world among us now.

Come to CUG to join with others in awakening to that world. Leave with a plan to start building it.

Location: College Park Marriott Hotel and Conference Center

This year's hotel and conference center is a real treat.  This newly constructed hotel is at the edge of the University of Maryland campus in College Park, just outside Washington, DC.  One of the many fine features of this hotel is artworks from the university's collections, creating a relaxing, inspiring, retreat-like atmosphere. You will enjoy the facilities between sessions and in the evenings; you may not want to leave when it's over!
