As the whole world is dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, we are posting Daily Bible Readings for your inspiration and encouragement. Texts for Monday through Saturday are selected in support of the Sunday lesson in the Uniform Lessons Series, Spring 2020. 1 Corinthians 15:50-58, NRSV
Victory Through our Lord Jesus Christ

15:50 What I am saying, brothers and sisters, is this: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Listen, I will tell you a mystery! We will not all die, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For this perishable body must put on imperishability, and this mortal body must put on immortality. 54 When this perishable body puts on imperishability, and this mortal body puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will be fulfilled:

“Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
55 “Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”

56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
The Cross and the Corona

By Ms. Dr. V. Esther Kathiroli, Secretary, Tamilnad Christian Council, Chennai, India

Dearly beloved in Christ,

I am sending this appeal to you when our brothers and sisters all over the world are going through trauma and pain. Fear and darkness grip our world. This deadly wave has reduced humanity weak and helpless. Our heart sinks into deep sorrow and grief every day as the news about death toll increases. If it spreads in Asia, South America and Africa the loss of life is unimaginable.

However, sitting at the foot of the Cross of Jesus our Lord, we are not hopeless. Together we can save the world in the Name of Jesus. We are gifted with the Holy Spirit. We are endowed with the power of unity and action. We will conquer death and contain Corona when we join our hearts in love and minds in unity and our hands in service.

Let us come together and bend our knees for prayer that we may hear God’s voice.

Let the Spirit of God mend our lives that the Lord may liberate us from death and sorrow.

Let there be peace, healing, and restoration of life.

Let us continue our prayers till the coronavirus completely eradicated from the entire world.
