Assalamu Alaykum Friend, We all know that the Day of Arafah is almost here. This is the day of forgiveness and as a blessed day that Allah ﷻ refers to in the Quran as “(the) day I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, And have chosen for you Islam as your religion.” (Surah Maidah, 5:3).
Here are some beautiful acts of worship we can prepare ourselves to do so we can make the best of the Day of Arafah this year, despite being in lockdown. Fasting on the Day of Arafah: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about the observance of fasting on the day of Arafah and he said, “it expiates the sins of the preceding year and the coming year” (Muslim). Remembering Allah: The Sunnah of our Prophet ﷺ was to recite the Tahleel (Laa-ilaaha illallah), Takbeer (Allahu Akbar), Tahmeed (Alhamdulillah) and Tasbeeh (SubhaanAllah) as many times as possible on the day of Arafah, and also on the 11th, 12th and 13th of Dhul Hijjah. Making plenty of du'a and seeking forgiveness: The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to recite the following dua frequently (amongst others) and referred to it as "the best of what I and the prophets before me have said".
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ ، وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ ، وهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ "There is nothing that deserves to be worshiped in truth except Allaah, He is Alone and has no partner, to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise, and He is All-Powerful over all things." (Muwatta)
