Subject: Friend In this difficult time, a month whose blessings we need

Assalamu Alaykum Friend ,

This is a challenging time for many of our brothers and sisters around Australia. Some cities are coming out of lockdown, and others going into it. Jobs are threatened and anxiety amongst Muslim communities is understandably high.

This is a chance for us to give to help those who are going to be left reeling by the present situation, and a chance to beseech Allah in the immensely blessed days of Dhul Hijjah.

The greatest 10 days of the year are now on our doorstep Alhamdulillah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these 10 days (of Dhul Hijjah) (Sahih Bukhari 2:457).

These are the days for us all to increase our good deeds to the best of our abilities, and here are some things you can do insha Allah:

  • Fasting: especially on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah (19th of July)

  • Offering more Sunnah and Nawafil prayers

  • Mending and improving our relations with other people

  • Servitude to our parents and elders

  • Hastening to gain Islamic knowledge

  • Greater recitation of the Qur’an and pondering on the ahadith

  • Increasing in Sadaqah; especially by giving consistent amounts every single day if possible

  • Giving our Zakat in these days if our hawl (anniversary) falls roughly at this time, and making sure any missed Zakat is made up during these blessed days

  • Asking ample forgiveness from Allah and increasing in Du’a generally.

To help you build your plan for the best 10 days of the year, we've put together a useful Planner that we hope helps you.

As a community, we are maturing and understanding the importance of growing and empowering those in need in our community – women, children and families help women and children escaping domestic violence, poverty, homelessness, and forced resettlement.

Daily donations for the 10 days of Dhul Hijjah begin on the 11th of July and end automatically on the 20th of July.

Daily Sadaqah to NZF in Dhul Hijjah helps us achieve our urgent and critical objective: to make sure no Muslim in Australia is left abandoned.

Give your Qurban locally in Australia this year

As per the Sunnah, we encourage donors to take a share of the Qurban to enjoy with friends & family, while at the same time benefiting the local needy right here in our community.

The cost for a sheep is $200 per sheep (includes costs of processing and distribution of the meat), with collection and delivery options available for Melbourne & Sydney at this stage. However, Qurban orders are open to people living anywhere in Australia.

Please note: If you are intending on offering a sacrifice (Qurban), the Sunnah is that you DO NOT trim your hair and nails between 1st Dhul Hijjah until your animal has been slaughtered, on the 11th Dhul Hijjah. This applies to men & women.
