We hope you're in the best of Emaan and Health. Did you know that a staggering 64% of Australians are anxious about the recent rise in the cost of living. These are costs related with your basic housing, bills & food.

At NZF, we are also seeing a steady increase in families that were previously able to make ends meet, now falling behind on their bills & rent.

Continuing to tackle Family & Domestic Violence

Over the month of September, we ran an important campaign on an issue that is close to our hearts and which saw a strong reception from the community.

We addressed family and domestic violence (FDV) through a campaign that saw us raise both awareness and funds for victims suffering from this challenge.

We held two episodes of our Real Talk program which saw diverse and distinguished guests from the community join to tackle this issue from multiple angles.

Throughout, our key focus was on showing the community that through the power of our community’s generosity, the power of both Zakat and Sadaqah directed towards our unique, local crises can help alleviate the suffering and hardship of those impacted by FV in all its various forms.

A big thank you to all in the community who joined the conversation and gave generously as part of our efforts.

World Zakat & Waqf Forum

The World Zakat & Waqf Forum was held in Leeds, United Kingdom, from 28 to 30 Sep 2022.

From NZF Australia, we had Ismail Davids (CEO), Asif Mulla (COO) and Munir Abdella (National Manager) represent us Alhamdulillah. It was absolutely amazing to see Zakat conversations taking the world stage.

With 40 member countries, we are grateful to have been facilitating discussions on how to harness the transformative power of Zakat to tackle various issues in both developed and developing countries.

Topics encompassed the role of Zakat & Waqf in combating the global food & energy crisis, the role of governments in facilitating the effective collection & distribution of Zakat, empowering Zakat through the latest innovative technologies and more.

October 2022 - What to look forward to

Fitness for Cancer challenge - Keep an eye out for our emails & social media channels for our October challenge to raise funds for those affected by Cancer and their families!
National Zakat Summit - Oct 14 to 16 2022, when the NZF team gets together for our annual summit to plan the year ahead. We will be sure to draw on learnings shared in the World Zakat & Waqf Forum!
