It seems impossible to believe it, but the blessed guest is now almost behind us. Only 5 days of Ramadan SubhanAllah. But there is still 50% of its best nights remaining, and I am writing to share some words tonight that hopefully inspire the way I've recently been inspired.
As you know I was recently in Madinah. This particular trip was extra emotional for me. The acts of kindness and compassion I saw from Muslims towards each other hit me extra hard. Because I saw Muslims who often have so much less than us be so generous in their giving: through their sadaqah and their care for their brothers and sisters.
I thought "imagine we constantly thought and acted like this" - and yet through our wealth, energy and well-being, we too have a chance to do just that almost every day, and especially in Ramadan.
Friend NZF's networks, partnerships and financial assistance cover many areas, but few that bring out the need for sheer human compassion like our work in the drugs, alcohol and recovery spaces. I want to share with you tonight the words of br Teguh Syahbahar, a Rehabilitation Counselor, AOD clinician and community advocate who refers people to us.
Here is his recount of how NZF is helping people in their recovery journey from drugs and alcohol issues and the related challenges they create. THIS is the hope and compassion that I want to become a permanent feature of our community.
Friend on this beautiful odd night (25th) of Ramadan, I'm asking you to support us through your Zakat and Sadaqah in what remains of this blessed month. If you haven't given them, make a pledge tonight, and if you have, consider setting up Daily Sadaqah for the remaining odd nights.
Your support will help us continue to provide the services we need in this space, and in all the areas where we're providing the hope that we do every single day.
