FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - NZF & Your Zakat 1 - How Do do I know NZF is a reliable organisation?We are a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), publish all our financials publicly and are regulated by them. Further we are an official partner of the Australian National Imams Council.
All of our Zakat policies are governed by a panel of reputed scholars.
2 - Does NZF assist the needy in Australia or overseas?
We only assist people in need in Australia. We do not provide any assistance to those in need overseas and believe there are a number of organisations who are already assisting those overseas effectively.
With the number of Muslims in Australia increasing year on year however, there is a growing need for local assistance which is our focus.
3 - How Does NZF assess those asking for Zakat?
We have developed a comprehensive framework in partnership with local authorities to assess a person's financial needs. This takes into account the specific Australian context such as understanding the housing, medical and schooling systems here and the impact that has on a persons financial responsibility.
