Subject: Something I want to personally share with you Friend

Last 10 nights donations

Assalamu Alaykum Friend,

I was having a chat with one of our team members today, just sharing some of my thoughts and observations from the interactions I have been having with various members of the community.

He told me "Brother Ismail - this is the sort of stuff our donors would appreciate hearing from you."

It turned out a little longer than I'd like, but please have a read through below and I would love to know what you think. Do reply and let me know!

Awe

I was in discussion with an Islamic school on becoming a partner as part of our programs to assist children with school fees. Once they had agreed to become partners, I asked how many children they currently had, that might be eligible for assistance. This is what I was told -

"There are currently 20 orphans enrolled in our school, but we don't need any assistance for them. Any new children who need assistance will be referred to the program".

When I asked them why the 20 orphans would not eligible, the response I received truly surprised me -

"The teachers of the school have taken it upon themselves to look after the 20 orphans, and wish this to be their reward"

Empowerment

I always knew Zakat was an amazing tool to empower Muslims. But I didn't realise how much it could empower women, if they truly understand the wisdom of Zakat and their obligations. A sister said to me recently -
"I've never realized how powerful this pillar is, and how I can benefit from it. And I'm going to make serious intention and start doing my own Zakat from today!"

Purpose

There are many people who still need to be convinced of the need for local Zakat. I met one such person recently, who was interested to know more about our programs - someone who had known about NZF for a while, however was not paying his Zakat locally.

After I took him through the programs, his response was
"I'm ready to give NZF my Zakat from this year onwards. These programs are long overdue and I strongly believe it will make a difference to our community."

Gratitude

I am immensely grateful firstly to Allah and then to people like you, who trust us with your Zakat & Sadaqah. I was recently told by a case worker how we assisted a young sister, this Ramadan who was kicked out twice.

The first time she was kicked out of home by her husband, with her children.

She was able to stay with a family member for a few days, before they also asked her to leave.

The sister was homeless with 3 kids, in the middle of Ramadan. Alhamdulillah through our partnerships with some real estate agents, we were able to get her a new rental home within a very short time.

Thank you for your trust & support.

Service

At NZF, we serve the community. Those in need. When I was speaking to another school in relation to assisting students, I was told that there were at least 15 families with kids coming to school, who don't have any lunch daily.

Subhan Allah.

Right here in Sydney.

Excitement

And lastly, it has been incredibly inspiring to see how excited people have been about the programs that we are launching. As an example, Mohamed Fenj who runs the Rehabilitation Project basically asked me

"Where have you been? I've been waiting to get these programs off the ground."

As he told us in the talk the day before on Drugs and addiction (if you haven't watched it, don't miss it - you can view it here) -
"What is important for us is to put in our best effort to address such issues, and the result is ultimately from Allah."

So Friend, I sincerely hope the above messages gave you the same hope, excitement and sense of gratitude it gave me. I am honoured that you are part of this journey with us, and I look forward to continuing the work we can collectively do as a community to transform it for generations to come insha Allah.

As always, if you have any feedback, please let me know. And please remember us in your dua during this blessed month of Ramadan.
