Subject: Ever wonder if you needed an Islamic Will in Australia?

Many of us don't think it's important to have a Will ...
We tend to take life for granted; like death is not something we need to worry about while life seems to be going so well ... for now.
But what if Allah decides to take our life today? Or tomorrow?

Have you considered what you will be putting your family through if you do not leave behind a Will?
Here are five reasons why we think it's important for every Muslim to have an Islamic Will in Australia
Reason 1: Save your loved ones from a lot of hassle
In Australia, if you die without a Will, your family will need to run around proving to the authorities who should be in charge of distributing your estate, who can get access to bank accounts and other assets. Save your family the hassle so they may spend the time making dua for you rather than running around the courts.
Reason 2: Funeral Rights
You can stipulate conditions for an Islamic Burial ensuring that your funeral is carried out in a way that is pleasing to Allah. You can also add wishes such as not having an autopsy performed on your body, decisions on what to do if you do not die in your home country, etc.- decisions that would otherwise cause a lot of stress and anxiety to your family during a difficult time.
Reason 3: Inheritance
An Islamic Will specifies exactly who should get how much of your wealth as per the Qur'an. Yes that's right - you actually do not decide this. Allah has clearly articulated exactly who gets how much for every possible combination of surviving heir when you die.
(If you get your Will with Wasiyyah, they will manage all this for you. You do not need to know exactly how the distribution works in order to prepare your Will. See below for details)
Did you know that Allah has allowed you to determine how upto 1/3rd of your wealth is distributed if you so wish? This cannot be distributed to any of the heirs in above point, but you can use this clause if you choose to invest upto 1/3rd of your wealth as a Sadaqah to gain ongoing rewards. For example, you can invest this towards a Masjid, a school, an orphanage, building wells and more.
Reason 4: Children
What if both parents pass away unexpectedly leaving young children behind? Would you want the government and courts to decide who will have custody of your children? Or do you want to have a say in the matter? A Will is where you can specify this important decision & responsibility.
Reason 5: Debts
Many of us have debts. What happens if we die with unpaid debts? Did you know your wealth should not be distributed until all your debts have been paid? Who should be responsible for this? A Will is where you specify this so you can choose someone responsible who will ensure all your debts are paid off with no delay so your reckoning can start and your inheritance is managed correctly.
The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) instructed us to leave behind a Will by saying "It is a duty of the Muslim who has anything to bequeath not to let two nights pass without including it in his Will." - Sahih Bukhari

Would we not want to do what our beloved Prophet (SAW) has instructed us to do ?
