Eid Mubarak!
Asalamu Alaykum,

A very special Eid Mubarak to you all from the NZF team. As we haven't been in touch since Ramadan, allow me to once again say a heartfelt Jazakallah Khairan for your trust and support. Thanks to your generous donations during Ramadan we have been busy in not only continuing this vital work of assisting those in need, but also in increasing and expanding our services.
Cases update
  • To-date we have received 1,551 cases.
  • 65% still being female applicants.
  • Distributed $938,770.70 in Zakat, Fitr & Fidya since July 2013.
I look back and sometimes can't believe that it has only been 2 years since we started NZF Alhamdulillah. NZF is now classified as a large charity according to the Australian Charities and Non for Profits Commission (ACNC).

I'd also like to touch on some of the key programs that we are working on in response to some of the issues around us right here in Australia so you know how NZF is empowering YOU to help those right around YOU.

Syrian Refugee Intake

Many of you are aware of the current refugee crisis in the world and as Australian prepares to accept upto 12000 Refugees from Syria and other affected countries. The Australian government will be responsible for settling the new arrivals into the Australian community.

As a community based welfare agency, we at NZF believe we also need to shoulder some of this responsibility and provide complimentary support services for the refugees. This will mean that if there are any gaps or additional assistance required by our Muslim brothers and sisters that the government is unable to help with, NZF will seamlessly fit in so as to not leave them out in the cold or force them to turn to other avenues for assistance.

As Muslims, we need to do everything we can to assist these vulnerable people in keeping their faith and settling down in a new country. The Australian Muslim community need to display our Ansar spirit and open our houses and hearts to the Muhajiroon.

Look out for the call for volunteers once the needs are identified and programs developed.
Local Qurban Program

This Eid, Abdul Rahman and his family of 6 (Rohingyan refugees) will be one of 70 needy families to whom we will distribute locally slaughtered Qurban as part of our Local Qurban for Local Distribution program.

The objective behind this program is to bring a practical aspect of the Qurban into the local communit
y, as such we encourage all NZF Qurban donor's to take a share of their qurban to enjoy with their friends and family as well as benefit the local needy.

This year we will be arranging for 25 sheep to be slaughtered and distributed within Sydney -
providing 2 to 3 meals for over 200 people!

InshaAllah our intention is to expand this to the other capital cities in the coming years.
Crisis Accommodation

Rabia, a victim of domestic violence and a mother of 1 suddenly found herself homeless, and was our first occupant at our crisis accommodation facility we opened in June this year.

The centre has also been critical for providing temporary shelter to homeless clients who have been in need over the winter. It can accommodate 6 people at a time and is proving extremely useful for providing emergency accommodation services for the community at very short notice.
Zakat - Not just in Ramadan

As always we are here to make Zakat Simple, so don't let it be a Ramadan only subject. Outside of Ramadan, we'd like to focus on our Education and Awareness activities.

So contact us now, for a free awareness program at your mosque or center. Or if you would like to do a Zakat assessment on your business.
