NZF’s Commitment to the Community
Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
My dearest fellow Muslims. We are living during a time in history in Australia that we can talk to our grand-children about, just like our parents talked to us about the wars and restrictions they grew up in (and mostly we did not appreciate the patience and sacrifices they had to endure). So now it is our turn.
Alhamdulillah, we at NZF are now placed in a very unique position as the peak local welfare organisation, with a responsibility to be there for those in need in our community. As we all continue to navigate through these evolving challenges, we want you to know that NZF is here for you.
Since 2013, in our 7 + years of operation, we have been at the forefront of assisting our local community and individuals. Today, we call on everyone to come together to help the most vulnerable in our local community during this crisis. We all need to support our families and look for ways to help our fellow Muslims navigate the challenges that they may face. In the last few weeks, we’ve seen great kindness, intergenerational support and solidarity, and remarkable fortitude. It is during times like these that courage, generosity and resilience make a difference, and unite us as one community.
I want to assure you that we are here to help. We are here to provide the leadership, guidance & assistance to a community that we are proud to belong to. We know many of you are under stress and that some of you are facing significant hardship. We are working to meet your needs and will draw on our experience, technology, partners and resources to make a difference for you.
Now more than ever before, has the importance & relevance of local Zakat become evident. Hence I would like to reassure you of the following:
- We are taking care of our staff, who serve you every day.
- Your support of Zakat and Sadaqah to NZF, have already empowered us to take a proactive stance to managing COVID19. Thank you.
- We will continue to do what we do best this Ramadan, with no interruption to our "Zakat services" such as; Zakat education, collection & distribution.
- We are not alone in this. We are working on a collaborative initiative to maximize efficiency of not just local Zakat distribution but also leveraging Sadaqah collected across charities in Australia, to be put towards community assistance.
- We remain committed to providing a compassionate, reliable and efficient service.
I know there are many of you that would never have dreamt about lining up at Centrelink, and similarly reaching out to NZF for assistance. But Allah has ordained this pillar of Zakat for you for times like this, so please don’t be embarrassed to contact us. Should you be in need, reaching out for assistance through Zakat is your right. |
