WATCH: Make Zakat Local Again
  • Zakat: A pivotal pillar of Islam, alleviating poverty and purifying wealth
  • All 4 madhabs agree on the priority of local Zakat
  • NZF is working to revive this Islamic obligation here in Australia
  • Real Local Impact: 1000s of lives changed for the better
Historically, Zakat has been given throughout our history closer to home. Scholars of all 4 major madhabs have commented on the importance of Zakat being directed to those needy that are local.

“If the categories of Zakat distribution are found in the place where Zakat is collected, it is prohibited and invalid to transfer the Zakat elsewhere”
- Prominent Shafi’i fiqh opinion (Reliance of the Traveller, p.272)

NZF aims to revive this important Islamic practice. At a time when the needy in our community are greater in number than ever before, we urge you to consider your brothers and sisters at home first.

Whether it be Domestic Violence survivors, Refugees, the Muslim homeless, widowed sisters or otherwise, there are a plethora of people in Australia that are in need of your Zakat!

This Ramadan, NZF will again be highlighting the importance of giving your Zakat locally. Watch out for our explainer videos, follow us on social media, and help educate others by sharing our material so you too can be one who ensures that those in need right here in Australia are not being ignored
Think Local.
